I have got myLot reputation of an eight in a star, and I don't know how to improve it. What is myLot reputation related to? A box appeared the day before yesterday when I was searching and told me I had some suspicious activity and banned me from searching for several hours, then my reputation decreased 3 that day. Is there any relation between the two things? My dear Lotters, especially who have a star with 10, could you tell me how do you get it?

Mylot is a site that goes for sensible sharing of ideas, knowledge and experiences. Mylot reputations are improved if a lot of readers positively rates your posts and responses. It is something you cannot control. So my advice for you is to do your best to be able to share your knowledge and experiences to other mylot readers. Asking them to rate your responses positively is not possible because it is againts the rules. Honestly, if you would ask me, the numbers inside the stars besides our user names are just numbers. As long as you know that you are contributing quality posts in the site, as long as you enjoy the site, numbers will just be numbers for you.

There is something that you Should ALL know. and i have experienced this. the star actually connected on how you earn. the lower star you have, the low earnings you will get. i know because my last (suspended and deleted) account was eight because of me being grouchy then i lost it. then i turn over a new leaf with this account and i realized that i was earning higher than before. i understand some don't care about the star and just want to say what they want to say. but for those who wants to steadily try to retain large every day earnings, if you ever did reach the red or blue star, do your best to retain it coz it does affect earnings. don't piss on anyone

I think its all based on quality an lenghty responses and many of them in one day. I try to respond to ten or more discussion each day. I also make sure its longer then four lines of writing for most responses. I also go for the discussions that are the most interesting, of course. Another thing is when I start a discussion I reply back to all who took the time to reply to my discussion whether its 5 replies or 40 replies. I also give out best response mark to all the discussions I have started. Good luck to you.

My understanding is that it's hard to get the star up, the more posts that you have. Continue to post quality discussions and responses and people will continue to rate you and over time it should increase. We can't do anything other than that as it's all up to the other mylotters to rate us. I sometimes wonder if everyone rates the discussions that they participate in. I hope you get to the 10 star as quickly as possible. I really don't think that the search engine has anything to do with your star rating. If you use the search engine to many times it triggers that response and that's perfectly normal, nothing unusual there. I think that happens due to the rewards system they now have in place so that mylotters can't abuse the system. Happy Mylotting!!!

Hello Qianyun, Make sure you read the mylot rules and discussion guidelines so that you won't be in trouble. I got this star because people in my early days liked my discussion and they rated me (+). i was so close to 99 when i suddenly drop down and i went further down because i was in a heat with political discussions. led me down to the almost botton of the blue (star) once i get lower than this i will eventually turn red. The star changed when ever the reader rates your discussion, responses and comments. if they rate you (-) you're star will be lower than eight (8) but if they kept rating you (+), you will either reach nine or ten (blue). the best way to reach it is when you create quality discussion and not to piss on every one. If you ever reach the BLUE star, do your best to retain it. always read the rules. and you will get there.

Hello qianyun! As far as I know your star is based on the ratings given by other mylot members. I am not sure if your activity has something to do with that, though, but according to your story, who knows. If it's true, then we all have to be careful on what we are doing here. The way you rate other members also affects your reputation. Giving too many negative ratings to other will also hurt your star. It's designed by mylot to avoid rating abuse. I do not do anything special for my star, I just try to contribute and that way my reputation increases. My first reputation was a 7. Good luck in improving your star

I don't know how the search bar managed to jam your rankings. Now I'm scared to use it lols! Well, if you have managed to get a high ranking before I know you can definitely bring it up again. For if fellow Mylotters are the ones ranking you I am sure you are polite and respectful enough to get back to the your original ranking or even higher hopefully. It may have just been a glitch from MyLot's side? Maybe you should contact the admin to find out more about this or maybe give the FAQs another review. I know I will. Knowing the ins and outs of this site definitely helps us all be more efficient in our use of the site and also avoid any penalties. But like I said it's probably just a glitch, I can't imagine them bringing down your rankings just for searching. Maybe you could enlighten us as to what you were searching for at the time they gave you a ban so we can avoid doing the same.

As others had stated the star, the reputation, keeps getting higher or lower base on how other mylotters rate you. As far as the reputation is concern I don't think that being warned while using the search engine affects your reputation. Just keep posting nice response and discussions and eventually you'll get that shiny blue star. Avoid politics and religion interest to avoid the shower of negative ratings
