It was a simple misunderstanding...

The neighbor said they were getting rid of their cat and asked if we'd take him. He was neutered and declawed. (which I think is cruel I would never do that to an animal) Anyway to save his life I took the cat. As the man was leaving I yelled at the kids to ask what the cat's name was. I swore I heard the guy say, "Howard." But the kids said he said "Powder." - he was a white cat! But it was too late, he was Howard to me and Howard he stayed.. he became one of my all time favorite cat pets! Did you ever have such a silly misunderstanding?

Yeah, gotta go with a more masculine name! I used to think all cats were girls. And of course all dogs were boys!

I have a niece who is now 5 year old. When she was 3 years old, she had spent the night with me and I was taking her to school the next morning. We were listening to the radio when a song by Country Music artist Phil Vassar came on called "Love" One line of the lyrics of this song says "Tie the cans to the back of that Limousine" talking about a wedding. Isabella sang "Tie the kids to the back of that limousine." I can no longer hear that song without laughing.

I guess your case is more on mishearing rather than misunderstanding. I had a dog who was given to me as a puppy with a tag written as "Jimbo", but because it was so cute that I later renamed him as "Cuttie" despite of it being a male. He was Cuttie up to this day..
