Do you feel comfortable in a party where everyone is a stranger?

If I go to such a party, it takes me some time to get my bearings. Usually it is someone else who befriends me and once I get comfortable, then only I can enjoy. Otherwise I prefer to listen to the music for some time and then go back. How comfortable do you feel in a party where everyone is a stranger? Cheers! Ram

Hello Ram. I have experienced similar situation without having an acquaintance. I would start to have an easy conversation with someone who looks friendly. This way I start to feel much better with someone to talk to.

I think there is just something awkward about not knowing anyone. With people you know, you pretty much are comfortable around them a lot of the time. When meeting new people, it tends to be something that I tread very carefully. In a setting like a party, it can be difficult to be careful what you say, because it is a bit chaotic. Of course, one could argue that if its a party, you can blend in and socialize at your leisure, as there is just so much going on. Still, if someone strikes up conversation with me, then there is no reason not to try and get a bit more comfortable. I mean, perhaps I could make a new friend or two. You just never know until something happens. It could be an uncomfortable, awkward night or it could be a night that would lead to something great. Still, not knowing anyone could be awkward, but I just try and get to through this by thinking that there is likely someone else here who may be going through the exact same thing.

Yes, you are right, if some one strikes a conversation it is usually to carry on with it. The trouble is if you have to start a conversation with somebody, then that becomes a bit difficult. Cheers! Ram

Yes, mobiles are a handy gadget to remove some of the boredom. Cheers! Ram
