School uniforms - pro or cons

Today in more and more schools the pupils wear uniforms. And here come the question - must they wear it?
There are so many different opinions.
For example - the students must wear uniforms because the school is not the place the pupils to show their expensive clothes.
Or negative side - with these uniforms the students are like prisoners, they haven't got any choice about their wear.
So, what's ur opinion - are u for or against the uniforms?

I had uniforms in school, and even though I hated it, I understood why we had to wear uniforms and so I didn't really mind. Plus, we used to get to wear casual clothes on our birthdays and on the day after one festival, so it made it all the more special. In college, we don't have a uniform, and everybody pretty much wears whatever they want. And you can see that it's not as much about comfort with some people as it is about showing off brand labels and financial status. I wouldn't want to wear uniforms in college though, I'm too used to being able to wear casual clothes everyday now. :/

Why did you agree with wearing uniforms?I wish my school allowed us to wear casual clothes.If some pupils want to show financial status i don't think that the clothes express what they want them to.Personally when i was a child i didn't gave a **** about what others were wearing because it wasn't my business.And most of the current generation thinks the same.:)

conformity is a formality.
you need to be properly dressed to be not taken lightly.
