Why was my discussion deleted? A Poll...

hi dawnald no I did not really consider that a poll at all, but get this I had a response deleted that was not my response, the'one who did this just typed in a line of letters now I will have my earnings taken off because I report the jerk who did post the letters.So someone is getting things all mixed up.I thought your discussion really was a discussion. I think things are getting a bit too picky now.I hope this does not get deleted. I had six of my responses lost yesterday on five that I did not think broke any rules unless it was because they were similar to other discussions.

Well I'm a sucker for people on the street asking me for money or cigs. Although I have gotten better over the past few years I still tend to give more often than I like. Sometimes I do just to get away from the person and others it's because I feel they really need it, other times it's just because I have more money on me than I should. What I don't like is when I see able bodied people coming up and asking me for money, I now tend to be stronger with them after all I should be able to freely choose who I give my money too. I didn't see that discussion so can't really comment as to why it was deleted, what you showed of it didn't seem like a poll to me, but then I'm not the Admin. I will say this, if you feel it was deleted in error contact mylot. I had a discussion deleted one time and contacted them for explanation(few months after I started before they sent notifications) and it was reinstated with in a few hours of being deleted. So sometimes I think they go to fast, in my case I think it was reported becasue of the title and not the discussion itself, if one read the discussion then they would have realized the title. Hope this one doesn't get deleted. Happy Mylotting!!

By no means is this a poll. It was open for discussion and a great many points of view. I'm afraid to see how many discussions are going to be deleted if this was considered a poll type question. I think everything I have answered for the past two weeks will be gone. LOL Lets hope it was just a mistake or an oversite. I think it is was a great way to get people to look within and share some great information about themselves. BTW my weakness is in the sweet smell of roses.

Hi Dawn! I responded to that post too... and I didn't understand why it was deleted either... Now I'm paranoid that whenever I ask someone's opinion it will be deleted! How else are you supposed to interact with people? Maybe I should just post things like "This is the way it is, don't argue with me" I'm sure that will get a lot of responses! (If it did I bet they would be some pretty colorful one-liners!) Oh, and Mods, if you're reading this... "This is not a poll, don't argue with me!"

I've noticed a few of the discussions I've responded to being deleted too, some were about earnings so I get that, but others I don't understand they were well thought out and meaningful. Technically any discussion that starts with a question could be considered a poll, and if they start deleteing every discussion that asks a question there will be nothing left on Mylot!

No, I wouldn't call that a poll. (I also wouldn't call the top of the head or the blunt end of a hammer a poll, either, for that matter.) A poll usually has a quantifiable result: so many did this, so many did that. Were you meaning to come up with a pie chart illustrating results? (Hmmm.... pie.... think I'll have some pizza...)

i don't think it is.it's asking a question. a poll to me usually has predetermined answers to select from. but to answer the question within about weakness-kittens,kittens,kittens. i want to save each and every.

Hey dawn~ There was absolutely nothing in that discussion that went agains the TOS! It was a perfectly fine and full discussion! It wasn't like people didn't go into their reasons like you said! That discussion needs to be looked at again by myLot Admin! They need to admit that sometimes they are a bit too hasty on their decisions and this was definitely one of them! When was that one . . . I must have missed it!! Why are all these sites so weird about polls? I know on Yahoo Answers, they didn't like it either - but they had a P&S section (polls and surveys) - but people there got busted for chatting. Oh rules, schmules. But like you said, you asked for the reason - and people can discuss reasons. I wonder if things would have been different had you just said "I am weak willed when it comes to any cinnamon type dessert" without the fill in the blank . . . or if you asked what are you weak willed about. In my opinion, that's basically the same thing, right?? Crazy!

I'm afraid I haven't had the chance to see that discussion. I guess I can still find it though because I saw GoAskAlice comment on Irish's box.

I lost my response too and I was surprised when I received the notification. I was trying to work out the reason for the deletion and poll didn’t enter my head at all. I pray this won’t be removed as well but I responded to said discussion because I thought it was clever, fun and well written and never considered it a break of the rules...Shame...
