My laptop doesn't turn on straight away. It goes to the Windows XP screen at the most and then it just restarts itself. And sometimes it just freezes on a blank screen and doesn't do anything. It takes a lot of tries to get it to start up. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong with it?Thanks.

If your not techie on computer troubleshooting, better have it check on computer shop, but you can do some simple pc check up. have anti virus and scan your pc and chkdsk your drive for stability. i have'nt work on laptop yet but i know laptop is more tricky to fix than desktop pc so if those simple checks dont work, better leave it to professionals.

try removing it from its power supply, use your batteries if it works.

Yup, I think it's a virus. If you really care about your personal files and documents in the computer, I'd suggest you use a bootable XP CD and run your computer from there. From the bootable CD you can scan your laptop for viruses and back up important files. I've written something about the steps you should take when your computer is hijacked by a virus, you can read it here: http://factoidz.com/a-basic-guide-to-removing-viruses-from-your-computer. Hope this helps!

It could be a operating system problem or may be boot file is curpted or deleted. Just reinstall your operating system and you will get your laptop to work. Just give it a try it might help you.

Hi. This is a very common problem with Windows users. It's a virus. Try entering into safe mode and back up all your files, then reformat your computer. Once you're infected, it's hard to remove the virus, even if you have a decent anti-virus. You can remove the virus but you have to do it manually, which I don't recommend if you're not really techy
