I've heard a lot of people say that. As well as having them listen to classical music when they're really young. But I have no clue if it's true or not. Maybe you could ask your baby doctor, I'm sure they'd be able to give you the best answer when it comes to this particular question.

it is not just classical music that helps. All sort of soothing music will help in relieving the stress and pressure of the mother-to-be. and, thus help the baby inside. these modern-day doctors have MEDICINES for every symptom that you can conceive to discuss. so, I would say, ask an experienced mother, who used this technique.... or read about that online, there are plenty of sites telling about this. there sure will be no harm, if you keep the music playing around, in your living room. THANKS callmecat, for allowing me to discuss it here too.

There was a study about this. But they used rat as a subject and they concluded that the rat who listened to classical music has developed its brain compared to the one who did not.. But since a fetus or baby has developed hearing already even he or she is still inside the womb, why not try making her listen to. There's nothing to lose anyway. It can help you and baby relax your mind and body while listening to it.

I'm not a specialist or anything, so my post would be based on experience. Haha. When my mom was pregnant with me, she was read a lot of books while she had her Walkman on her tummy making me listen to music. I'm not sure if this is the effect of what she did, but I'm really sensitive to music. I can play 4 instruments well, and I can figure out the notes of the song just by listening to it. I'm also conscious when it comes to singing as I know when I'm not hitting the right notes. Hope that helped =)

it is true. even modern research suggests that listening to soothing music will help both the mother and the baby inside.. in relaxing and increasing the mind-brain power. you could find a lot of such .. including some spiritual stores, selling cds and videos downloadable, for this purpose. Here is a link to an old news article on the topic: http://www.nhs.uk/news/2008/10october/pages/musicduringpregnancy.aspx wish you goodluck.

hello there desheree17.. uhmmm, i read an article before about that.. and it's scientifically proven right... especially Mozart's music, it kinda stimulates the brain, as what the scientists said.. that's why, for a child, their brains tend to learn faster...

yes it is helpful for babies that their mother listen to the music when they are still inside the womb. studies show that the fetus in the uterus as early as 20 weeks gestational age can hear at the womb and be calmed and soothed by the music after birth..the reason for that is the limbic system. the limbic system is the area of the brain related to emotion and plays a very important role in the development of the child's music abilities in the future. there is a study that says that a part of the cortex lights up whenever the mother listens to the music. that is also known as the right hemisphere. the result is the increase in the endorphin levels that gives a sense of relaxation and well being. th sound that the baby would hear during intra-uterine life in the womb are organic and rythmic. smooth and harmonious music are highly recommended.. :)

I don't is it good for baby when mother listens the classical music, but I know that you should talk to your baby frequently. Babies can listen when they are 3 months in mother's belly.
