I don't think I could stand it without my air conditioner. When I was growing up we only had air in one room of the house and that was the living room. I remember laying in my bed at night tossing and turning and sweating it was really aweful. Even with a fan blowing on me it was still so hot. I don't ever want to feel like that again, so as long as we can afford it I will continue to use my air conditioner. If my husband were to lose his job or something I might use it less but even then if the temperature is above 80 I would turn it on.

I don't have a single air conditioner at home. Though the temperature in my country can go up to 38C, I just have the fan on perhaps to the maximum speed. Air conditioner is said to dehydrate the body and causes other health problems. My husband and I have decided not to have air conditioner as one of the ways to save on electricity bills.

Hi, lkh_worldpeace. I only use my air conditioner when I am very hot. I don't just use it to have it on running. At night, I use my fan. I don't like to sleep with cool air flowing over me. I don't want to wake up with a bad cold. If it is muggy in my home, I will use an air conditioner or turn my Central Air on.

I live in Northwest Florida, and it gets really hot here during the summer. It is not uncommon for our daytime temperatures to reach 100 degrees Fahrenheit during the summer months, so life would certainly be very hard to deal with here without air conditioning this time of year. There have been times that I have had to go without air conditioning, so I know it is possible to get by without it, but I certainly don't want to live through that again if I do not want to. I work out in the heat a lot during the summer, so I am somewhat accustomed to the heat, but it sure is nice to be able to come into the house and cool off when I am done working outside...

Not all of the time, but I do find that it is uncomfortable to live without it when the humidity and heat gets to a certain point. Granted, I am not the type of person who turns on the air when the hot months begin and does not shut it off until its time to turn on the heater for the winter months. That is just absolutely absurd and not to mention a waste of energy. Plus, it is great to have some fresh air in the house. However, when it gets into those higher eighties and nineties and forbid, beyond, the air has to get put on. Life is just much easier. However, I am hoping for some time where I can give the air a break and open up the windows. It is not that great to sit in a house with closed windows for too often. Fresh air is absolutely important but unfortunately as of late, there have been many really hot days. This appears to be an absolutely humid summer.

It is not healthy when you sleep and your air-conditioner is turned on not only because on the other day your neck or back may hurt you but also because it makes the air dry and it will be harder for you to to breathe.I however love it not only because it is really hot here during the summer but also because I work at a reception and many people smelling awful come here and it makes the air fresher ;)

I live in a place where it is hot most of the year. I am convinced my family would have more health problems without it. People with high blood pressure especially!

Yes, of course, but only in the summer. In the summer it is really hot where I live, so I would not be able to function properly without it I think. I don't put it on too cold though, I use a normal temperature so the difference won't be too big compared to the outside. I think that could be bad for you, but if you use an air-conditioner in a sensible way, you should be fine I think!

It really depends on the area where you're in.. if you are in temperate countries, airconditioning units regulates humidity and temperature during the summer and fall, this could filter the pollens on spring time too. In tropical countries, airconditioning unit is used for temperature regulation... if you are dependent on a temperature regulated room, you are prone to pick up illness when you get exposed longer in an outside environment..
