When you go out do you tip your waitress? I just found out that waitresses make average of 4 dollars a hour and they TAX the tips according to what her tables purchase... So, IF you go out to eat and u dont tip they STILL tax on what u SHOULD of tipped meaning she takes a loss... I always have and always will tip according to service I get. My daughter is a waitress, she also takes care of her son and goes to school full time she is not on any government assistance. We live in rural America so business is NOT booming... Its a job that keeps her off of government assistance which she does qualify for but takes great pride in taking care of her son on her own (the father of her son got caught up in drugs and is no longer in the pic so she gets NO HELP what so ever from him and has no clue where he is located ) I was shocked to find out that waitresses make average of 4 dollars a hour and was TAXED on what people SHOULD tip and not what they DID tip....

Whoa. I kind of felt bad for those waitresses that are TAXED, whereas it should be their customer's responsibility (not really responsibility, but just to at least show some appreciation for those who serve them, a token of gratitude). They should rather be appreciated for what they have been doing instead of treated like that. It's also the first time I've heard of something like this, and it really is sad to hear.

I am glad that i wasnt the only one who just found out... It is shocking. people dont realize its not ONLy the food they serve they have tons of side work to do on top of waiting on tables.... Some people dont think of who fills them sugar dishes or the salt and pepper

Yeah. People care less about those people serving them saying, "They're already paid for their service" not knowing that it isn't close to being enough at all.

yes yes yes i strongly agree with you buddy, as the way you presented it shows your underlying greef for your daughter. I do give descent tips to people and i have really not taken this into consideration and from today i will make sure that i will do so. Thanks buddy. Wish you and your family good luck.

Thank you ! Its just not about my daughter its about how many other wait staff is using this line of work as a stepping stone or a job for now until they can get a education or what ever situation they are in.... I dont think anyone wakes up and say hey I am going to go to work as waitstaff cause its my lifes dream.. They really do have a hard job I listen to how demanding, rude, and down right ugly people can be, BUT I also hear the heart warming stories of people celebrating and the kindness that some do pass on....It only takes one table to order up 50 plus worth and not tip that really ruins the day....

i rare to give tip maybe because i used to go to the fast food restaurant. and it is not a habit too in my country to give some tip. in fact, they often did not give us our change if the change amount small like $0.05.
