I like to shop all year round for christmas gifts so that when Christmas comes I won't be swamped with expenses. This year it is an absolute must as my son remarried and has three extra kids in the family that were not there before...granted they are teenagers and you can always give money but I like to give gifts that are meaningful and special to my family and I like to have a HUGE Christmas. So the question is: do you shop year round for Christmas and why or why not?

I have a lot of people that i shop for at Christmas. if I waited until December to shop, I would be spending every dime I have to do it. It would take so much enjoyment out of the gift giving process for me. I usually start looking around for things I want to buy for Christmas in July or August. My only problem seems to be that when i shop early I have to remember where i put the Christmas gifts. It's a long time from July to December!

I have a big drawer in the closet that all possible gifts go into It is my "stash" so if a birthday comes up or something I usually have something in there that will do. If I don't give away all the Christmas gifts I put them back in the drawer. Living in a small town, away from shopping centers, this is a godsend. Anyhow I save more money by shopping all year round....I have a LOT of kids and grandkids to buy for.

My husband and I do not. We usually start shopping around November. We don't buy for that many people, so we have no need to start shopping any earlier then that. If we did, especially if we bought for us, I think we would want to go ahead and give each other gifts and then we would want to buy more for Christmas. As is, there are times we don't wait until Christmas to open our presents.

I don’t usually start Christmas shopping until the beginning of November although I have been known to put some of the more expensive items on lay-by at this time of year when there are end of year sales. I rarely think about Christmas until then because I as much as I love gift giving the experience can be stressful and I don’t want to start worrying about what to buy and how I am going to pay for it too early, besides I put money away for Christmas and I don’t usually have much until later in the year.

I make a lot of homemade gifts and typically start making my gifts in July. This year I am planning on launching an online store and am hoping to start this sometime next month. I have been so busy with school and trying to find a parttime job that it has been hard. My husband and I have found a nonprofit organization program that helps people winterize their homes and become more energy efficient. So far we have gotten a new furnace and a new water heater. The ones that were in this house originally were 26 years old and were not energy efficient. The house had been winterized a few years ago, but when the renters had moved out they took the new furnace and water heater. The only one I buy store bought gifts for are my husband. Iam hoping to make extra money on here as well as recieving money for my home based business so I can do this. I think I can after I catch up on my bills.

With money being so tight I have been picking things up little by little. I am planning on getting involved in two craft fairs this year and they are back to back weekends. I am going start with soap making then I will work on my birdhouses then I will look for two easy ornaments to make and the supplies will not cost me too much money. I am hoping that between the two craft fairs and selling some of my stuff online I should be able to make a decent wage. I love shopping early and making things as opposed to store bought items.

My husband and I start shopping for christmas around October. We don't do a large enough christmas to purchase items all year round, not to mention it kind of defeats the purpose. We do one large gift for the family, one gift for each person that they asked for, one surprise gift that we get for them, one large thing they need that they didn't ask for, and then we get one gift for each pet. We try to show our child that its good to give and receive, so when we get done opening our gifts every year we all go around the house and pick one thing to donate to chairty. We take those things and whats left of christmas dinner to the homeless shelter. Its always good to show our children that christmas isn't about giving or getting things, its about people coming together. So I do not shop all year round.

I only really start shopping for Christmas about a month to a month and a half before. I don't shop all year for Christmas, mainly because I don't really see the point of doing it all year round.

Yes, I do shopping all year round and some of those items that I bought or will buy would surely go as Christmas presents. However, I only buy good items that are on sale at big discounts. I do not only save good amount of money but I also save a lot of time against going shopping in December esp. last minute shoppings

Oh yes, I definitely shop all year round for Christmas (as well as for other holidays and occasions). I am a total bargain hunter (not just because I like to, but we have a tight budget) - and the more time I can get, the better. I like giving thoughtful, meaningful gifts too . . . I don't want to rush out in the Christmas crowd and not be able to "think" - and spend a whole lot of money buying some useless gift. If I shop during the year and get it done, I can actually ENJOY the Christmas season and not stress over it like a lot of my friends do.

Hello, I always to do so, but between one thing and another and I do not, because I get expenses not contemplated, and good, but keep trying.
