Made soup today.. thin or thick?

I was making some soup for later today and I added some water because I like to have thin soup. I don't want it just watery though, but enough soupiness to help me remember that it is soup! Do you like your soup thin, or do you like it thicker?

creamy chicken soup - Homemade creamy chicken soup.
I like my soup rather thick. My hubby won't have it any other way, he's not a big soup fan. I guess even if I preferred the thin version it would still have to be thick

I prefer my soup to be thick and hearty! My Hubby always complains when I make home made chicken noodle soup that theres more everything in it but broth! I prefer the broth only when I'm not feeling well or if it's winter.

Don't get me wrong I do like the broth. I just would rather have it atleast a 50% broth & 50% content (meat, veggie, noodle ect) or less on the broth. I just hate the soups where there's more broth and not much else in it.

For me it really would depend on the type of soup that I would be making or having. I was one though back when I used to help make homemade chicken noodle soup I usually prefered more Noodles and chicken in their than broth. Usually I made sure that it was able to be ate with a fork. Same with Dumplings. Even when we have Tomato soup most of the time I enjoy it thicker as well.

dumplings have got to have some thickness or they are just nasty in thin soup! lol! It really does depend on the type of soup. I know that's right for sure!!

Honestly I like the broth a bit thicker but not quite as thick as a cream soup. I just prefer a hearty soup with alot in it and some acutal soup on the bottom to slurp up when I'm done.

Hi. macdingolinger. I love for my soup to be thick. I love tasting the hearty texture that is combined with everything on it. I never have liked to eat thin soup that tends to seem watery.

I like all kinds of soups. It depends on what I put into them and what is the occation. I like broths (chicken br east broth)in a mug beside the computer on a cold winter day. It´s better than tea or coffee as it stays warm longer. I like creams (thick, with reggianito cheese on top)as a beginner of a nice meal dçfrom Autumn to Spring. I thicken a mushroom soup or a spinach-leek soup with cream. Gaspachos (Summer cold soups) are thickened with bread and vegetable soups are a mixture of diced veggies and liquid broth. I like them all.

I like some soups with cheesy stuff. Other than the cheesy stuff I like my soup thinner most of the time!

hi macdingolinger. love that user name. I love my soup thicker so it has some body and a lot of flavor too. But never so thick it will scorch easily but just not thin and stingy tasting but full of all the lovely flavor of veggies and meat.I am a great soup lover. all of us probably have our own ideas as to the soupiness of our soups. lol l ol.

I like my soups thick. Even the brothier ones. If it is a broth soup I like nice pieces of meat and hearty sized vegetables. Thin soups just don't seem filling enough for me. I guess they are OK as appetizers, but I really like my soups to be filling and flavorful and really delicious. So bring on the ceam, or the chunky vegetables. Yum Yum

I don't like my soup too thick really! I like it a little more soupy! It's kinda slimey to me if it's too thick!

When I serve my soup I avoid serving myself much liquid and instead I go for the chunks of foods, veggies, noodles, whatever else is in it. Personally I'm not a huge fan of soup anyways.. it's more of an appetizer to me than a main course, though it is cheap so sometimes it is our main course

The way my life is going these days, I'd say I'm in enough soup as it its. I wouldn't want it any thicker. As for eating (drinking?) it...I like my soup not too watered down. Creamier soups, I mix with milk. cdrxo

I like a good brothy soup with rice. I put a little bit of rice in my soup anyway. That seems to thicken it up a bit!

I like all sorts but I always remember when I was doing my cookery degree my lecturer telling me ALWAYS thicken your soup even if you put extra liquid in anyway, to give the soup body. I use cornflour a lot for thickening my soups.
