I am so sick and tired of seeing children and adults rding their bikes on the wrong side of the street or on the highway! It is like don't realize it is dangerous and not proper bike riding? I get so annoyed because ssome one could get hit by a car! I am surprised more people aren't for the way they ride! Do parents or anyone else teach kids now a days the right and wrongs of bike riding? If they aren't they should!

My dad taught me to ride my bike, but as far as traffic rules, I think I remember going to some presentation that the police did.

I don't see that much bike riding. When I do, they're usually riding on the sidewalk. The sidewalk is for walking not for riding.

I see people riding on the sidewalk, too! I see alot of bike riding because of the economy being the way it is! Same with scooters! if people can't afford cars, then it is a bike or scooter!

Because of either not enough time or desire, some parents don't teach their kids anything these days. I taught myself How to ride a bike but my mom taught me Where to ride my bike. But then again my mom was a homemaker and she Knew she Had to teach me the correct places to ride. It seems like either the parents don't have the time to teach their kids, with both parents Having to work , or that parents just don't know that they are the ones that Need to teach their kids Where to ride a bike. It is sad.

sad is right! Parents don't take the time or have the time to teach their children anything! I wouldn't doubt some adults don't know the proper rules of bicycling because they weren't thought the proper way to do it either! I grew up on a farm and my parents thought me how to ride a bike! I knew the correct rules and am grateful they tought me them!

Hi blue, Oh I see it all the time also. The same goes for pedestrians walking down the wrong side of the street. I don't know but I believe it was my parents that taught me what side of the road to walk on and what side to ride my bike on. Then it was stressed in Kindegarten. Also how to cross the street. Often times on a narrow street I see kids walking on both sides and the parent walking along totally oblivious to the kids that are all over the place. They are all a part of the traffic. I think that if they aren't going by the traffic rules then they should be fined.

I agree! People should be fined for riding their bikes the wrong way! I see walkers and runners do that all the time, too! They should get fined for being idiots! I was taught how to ride a bike by my folks on a farm! I knew the rules and I obeyed them! I wish more parents wouls do that now a days!

Problem is the adults don't know how to ride either. We have a group of bicyclist that come down our road almost every day. They never ride single file along the white line. They also hardly ever give the proper hand signals to let you know what their actions are. The sad thing is most of the people ride competitively. I know when I was growing up the schools would take you to safety town when you were in the 1st grade. They taught you about crossing the street, riding your bike and dealing with strangers. Unfortunately these places have seem to have closed up. I think people that ride bicycles should have to have a certification class in order to ride their bike on any road that has a speed limit above 25 MPH. And should be fined the same as if you were driving without a license if caught riding on a main road without proof of certification.

I see alot of adults who look like they ride in bike competions! You are right! They are always in a straight line and don't seem to know the road rules! When I was a kid my parents thought my to ride a bike. I didn't take a class, which everyone who rides a bike should but I was told the proper hand signals and other bike safety you knew to know! I wish they could pull over bicyclists who don't obay the rules and get fined!
