Tips for redecorating your home on the cheap!

July 1, 2010 3:18pm CST
I am wanting to redecorate my house and garden as it is in a little of a run down state from previous people living here though money is very tight at the moment. Does anyone have any cost-cutting advice to help with both decorating and a general tidy up of the house and garden? Many thanks

Hi Elfbwillow, Firstly join your local Freecycle site and lok what is on offer and puta wanted forpaint and decorating materials, you will be amazed at what people give away. I gota whole shed lot of paint from a woman clearingouther garage and mixed white in with the more loud colours and have completely decoratedmy home except for two rooms but have the paint to do it, with the garden the same can be sone, someone will begiving a garden fork another a shed or a greenhouse, you can also post your own unwanteditems for people too. huggles. Ellie is right.....you can get your paint for nothing and also they have furniture and other things for decorating that people give away! It's a wonderful way to do things....

I personally recomend going to thrift stores to find items such as curtains, rugs, knick-knacks, etc. for home decor. You might also try your luck at going to yard/garage sales and flea markets. If you are good at gardening, you might be able to get free cuttings to root and plant from friends/family that live nearby. As for cleaning, I'd avoid wasting a lot on chemicals. Just spend a small amount on a gallon of distilled white vinegar, baking soda, and such as that. This will clean your house without a large cost to your pocket or to the environment.
