I felt that the Dutch pulled one over the referee in the match against Brazil. Robben was more on the ground than on his feet during the whole match and he seemed to have the referee completely in his powers. Similarly Van Bommel kicked every Brazilian out of the park and escaped without a yellow card. Of course, Melo was rightly sent off for a stamp on Robben. But, did FIFA again goof up by putting rookie referee in charge of such a crucial match? Cheers! Ram

I think that it is now a part of the match with players trying to con the referee by feining injury or diving. The sooner that this is removed from the game the better.

Yes, and FIFA has to take a lot of blame for this by fielding a rookie referee for such a high profile match. I am just hoping we do not have another rookie in Germany vs. Argentina match as that would be a highly charged match!! Cheers! Ram

Melo definitely deserved to be red-carded. While Van Bommel deserved at least a yellow, Brazil is not saint themselves. Van Bommel kicked almost every Brazilian players, most of the Brazilian players kicked Robben. I thought the referee did rather well.

I agree on the Melo front. But I think Robben over did the falling over trick and the referee fell for it all the time!! Also, yes Van Bommel deserved at least one booking!! Cheers! Ram
