While It's Still Independence Day...

I want to share with all Americans everywhere, & others who don't really know much about our history, a book. It's about the 56 men who signed our Declaration of Independence, & what happened to them afterward. You may recall they pledged their "lives, their fortunes, & (their) sacred honor." And they meant every word of it. Many did die, &/or died penniless, & all died with unimpeachable honor. The book telling their incredible stories is called "They Signed For Us" & was written by Merle Sinclair & Annabel Douglas. It lists all 56 signers & their home states, the entire text of the Declaration, as well as their heroic actions to secure us our freedom from the tyrannical King George--or any future wanna-be tyrants.... Recommended reading! (And not just on the 4th of July! ) Go to these sights: http://tinyurl.com/23qhbmb And: http://www.personalliberty.com/straighttalk/bonus/TheySignedForUs.pdf Last but not at all least: Have a gloriously happy Independence Day! I think someone else has also recommended this recently. It sounds like a very good read.

It does indeed. I know most of what happened, due to Rush & Glenn Beck, but I wouldn't mind reading it to see if there was anything they missed. Maggiepie "Remember that a government big enough to give you everything you want is also big enough to take away everything you have." ~ Barry Goldwater

Thank you for sharing, Maggie. I love it when I can read a book online...and free, too. I have always felt a deep and abiding sense of pride in the fact that my mother served in the army during WWII. She was a dispatcher/driver and served in the south Pacific...Australia and the Philippines. She was always a proud veteran and displayed the flag on every occasion that she could find an excuse. One of my favorite quotes from Thomas Jefferson was that “Every generation needs a new revolution.” I found a wonderful site that is just chock full of quotes from Jefferson...he's one of my heroes...the site's url is: http://www.quotesdaddy.com/quote/352874/thomas-jefferson/every-generation-needs-a-new-revolution

I actually prefer hard copy, as I'm not comfy sitting for as long as it takes to read most books. But maybe I can handle this short one. My mom was a Rosie Riveter, which is how she met my father, who worked in the Houston shipyards building ships, since the military turned him down for some physical thing, I think. She always knew how to hard-wire electricity, build a lamp or fix a fuse. I guess I partly got her sense of can-do-ism from her! :o) Thanks for the Jefferson link; I'm going to check it out. Hope your ID was great! Mine was! Maggiepie "Remember that a government big enough to give you everything you want is also big enough to take away everything you have." ~ Barry Goldwater

Regarding fireworks, my ID was pretty quiet, too, but I was on-line for many hours, defending America in 3 or 4 forums (this one too), & there, it was anything but quiet! Lots of noisily wonderful patriots were there as well, verbal swords parrying & thrusting...fighting back the ignorance, & the Leftists--wait...same thing... All is well with me. Nothing more exciting happening than getting my toenails trimmed by the nurse who comes every month to do that, & check up on me in general. What's different now from the IDs you remember?
