hi there mylotters. i've been nursing a little sleep problem lately. see, i work at 3 am to 12noon. and from the time i started at this shift, i haven't had decent sleep except on my days off. during work days, i only get 4 hours sleep maximum. when i get off from work at 12 noon, the sun is shining brightly and the weather is not really so conducive to a yummy sleep. i barely get straight hours of sleep i was hoping that you can give some tips on how to sleep for more than 6 hours. i have a quiet environment, i tried relaxing music, i tried getting my eyes tired, i tried not drinking coffee...what else am i missing here?

Hey I have a ery strange way to fall asleep. First go outside and play as hard as you can. After that lay on you bad and start to think of a very good thing that you want to happen and you will fall asleep. Believe me there are other ways but i think that is the best. At that moment I am trieing another way to fall asleep : Stay all night long in front of your computer.Believe me it will definetely work!!! :) That is from me and good night. :*

I'm very much keen on lights. If I want to sleep quick, I just turn down the lights. That is if your room is situated in a dark area that you have to turn on the lights to get inside. Otherwise, try to hang curtains that only allow minimum sunlight to penetrate or BEST if it's a thick one to block the sunlight completely. It gives you a great ambience for sleeping. That's also another tip for having some lonesome time with your man. Adjust the lights with your mood. Going back to the topic lol..temperature is really one important factor for sending yourself to sleep. We're from the same country my friend so I know the feeling of the scorching heat when Mr. Sun seems to be so happy. AC would be the best advice. Make it a bit colder. The colder, the better..If none is available, an electric fan will do but keep in mind that you have to turn it on high settings. Still, the air it blows, when it's really hot, can be so disappointing causing someone who is in a deep sleep to awaken in dismay. Electric fans are okay when it's a bit gloomy just like today! Another tip is somewhat related to the second. Make sure you feel fresh when you go to bed. Make sure you have taken a bath or a 'half bath'. Brush you hair with long and soothing strokes. Feel it very well like you're rewarding yourself with a nice head massage. If these three tips seem ineffective, don't force yourself.. Sometimes, it leads to a headache (based on my experience). Get up and try to do boring and tiring things like maybe watering the plants or grass lol, reading El Filibusterismo or Noli Me Tangere, arranging stuff in the dresser drawer. If all else fail, you need to consult a doctor. It's better to hear it from the professionals. They know better and can provide maybe some medicines to help you have a long and sound sleep. Good luck and keep us posted!

thank you for the tips rainbowink. your 3rd tip is so true. forcing the sleep will just result to headache. i worked a few days bringing headache to work. i just never thought that change in body clock would actually affect my sleep. and my health is deteriorating because i am sleep deprived. thanks again for the tips.

Drink milk. Some times, the reasons why we cannot sleep is because of many things in mind. Try to relax when you sleep. Wear an eye mask perhaps. Breath...Take a shower...

My, my! That sounds like me. I can guess you must be working in a call center for such weird shifts. You're even lucky to sleep 4 hours, others sleep a lot, lot less. Try drinking a glass of hot milk before hitting the sack. Good luck!

You have to retrain your body. My husband use to work these weird hours also, and for awhile it was very difficult. One thing he use to do would be to not even try getting in bed for about an hour after he got home from work, this would give him time to unwind from his day and get ready to settle down. The other thing is, on your days off, you should still try to sleep during the same hours as you need to sleep when you are working otherwise your body will never get use to it.

your body may not be producing melatonin as much as it way its a chemical your body makes that helps you sleep you could try to by some form the vitamin section at the store/pharmacy it may also help if you make you room as dark as you can to simulate the night. you also may invest in a sound maker it plays calming outdoors sounds like the ocean or crickets on a summer night. hope this help you out :)

A little time management and your body clock will surely adjust according to your schedule. A glass of milk without even a dash of coffee, plus your relaxing music will surely give you a great sleep that you are trying to have. Good luck.

Hello, maybe you could try to change your room interior, I mean change your bedroom to darker: darker curtains so bright sun doesn't disturb your sleep, maybe you should change your mattress or pillow to softer one, try some lavender room spray (lavender is good for relaxing. I have heard that people who cannot wake up early, they should change their bedroom colours to lighter ones - yellow, light, sunny colours, but people who cannot fall asleep should change their bedroom colours to darker ones like I suggested you earlier Good luck and have a nice sleep!

Keep your room cool and use curtains to block the sunlight into your room. Some say that scented candles help set the mood for sleeping. Just be careful not to burn your curtains

Well, in the past, many advised me to drink a glass of milk and eat some sweet cookies whenever I find it hard to sleep. So, I gave it a try and it worked and still works every-time! I do not know which helps make me feel sleepy. Is it the milk or the cookies? Some said it is the sugar in the cookies that deserves the merit. However, the best thing to do is once in bed, find the most comfortable position and simply lie quietly with eyes closed. Try to free your mind of everything in it. Relax. If you could do some deep breathings the better. I hope this would help.

Try making your room a little dimmer. Maybe the bright sunshine prevent your eyes from relaxing. If you're not comfortable using a sleep mask, try putting a dark curtain or blinds for your windows.

I suggest you to invest in an air cooler. You may be feeling hot that's why you have troubles in sleeping. Just lie down realx, forget about your work or other things that you are thinking of. If all else fails, I suggest you seek professional help from a doctor. He can advice you a sleeping pill or medications.
