Hi Markphil, Way back my elementary and highschool days i had several experiences as it relates to concerns with my shoes. I had fair share of absences too due to a wet shoes. evenif i put it behind ouor refrigerator, it still not advisable to wear it as it's really wet (due to heavy rains). there was one incident when i am about to ride the tricyle, one of my heels feel. i don't have any rugby at home and if i will get one i will be late so i decided not to go to school. another instance where i had shoe-related problem again and i went to school wearing slippers only but the guard did not let me in and sent me back home.

When I started to school I had to walk a mile and a half, uphill both ways without shoes. Most kids walked barefoot on the gravel roads to school in the summer. In the winter we wore rubber boots with 2 pair of socks, as we trudged through the snow banks. There was a pot bellied stove in the center of the schoolroom and we had to carry in the wood in, from the woodshed. Sometimes on a cold day the sides of the stove would get red-hot.

Yes, I also experienced that when I was 7 years old, I usually play under the rain barefooted and no clothes. It's a simple thing but for those children it is a fun.

i could be more fortunate with the other children of my age when i was in grade school. because even without shoes, i can go to school. and walking from house to the school and going back home is not a problem as our house is only less than a hundred meters from the school gate.
