Alvin Greene is a Genius

Alvin Greene, the democratci candidate for US Senate is a genious. With no campaigning and very little funding he has thrusted himself into the top of national political debate. He has gone from an obscure unemployed military veteran to the political conscisciousness of every political pundit. Regardless of how his case turns out he has proven there is a story to tell. If he does it right he certainly can provide an income for himself and a future family for the rest of his life. Not bad for a shot at the dark pushing out of the end of the evenlope push to get noticed and get attention.

So if he is collecting unemployment from the state of South Carolina at $326/week, it would take him approximately 31 weeks (rounding up) to get the $10,000 to get into the race. So that is approx. eight months of unemployment checks. Of course, that is if he saved every single penny, which is highly unlikely. He definitely has some major explaining to do. But then his actions don't disqualify him from becoming a politician. In fact, you might even go so far as to say that he falls right in line with a few other politicians out there. It is still definitely a very funny story.

He didn't get the $10,000 from unemployment. He claims that he saved it from when he was in the military.

If you knew his rank and his length of military service, you could basically figure out how long it would take to raise the $10,000. According to one article, he was in for 3 years, ranking equivalent to an E-3. They make approx. $1500 a month. So he would have made approx. $54,000 total for 3 years. That's before taxes (he was stationed in SC so he won't have gotten tax free pay or hazard duty pay.) (Yes, the military pays taxes on their paychecks.) So he would have had to save one-fifth of his earnings. I don't know. I suppose it is possible but he doesn't sound like the type of guy who would stick that money in a bank somewhere.

Ya...but if he really did have teh money saved up...then why did he LIE to the court and tell them he was broke and could not afford a lawyer when he was arrested? He declared himself indigent so he could get a court appointed lawyer. It was BEFORE he paid for the primary. So if he REALLY did save up the money I would think it would have been sitting right there in the bank so he could have used it for his lawyer. Either he lied to the court about being broke...or be lied to the elections board about how he got the money. Either way he is in BOG trouble.

The fact that he won is a beautiful slap ion the face to the establishment democrats of the party. Now, as for being a genius? that remains to be seen as I have no idea what his specific platform and pallet of solutions are, neither does anyone else yet. While it was great he won the primary, he's their "guy" now and it's game on. If he wants to win the general election, he is going to have to start playing seriously now and answer questions on policy, platform, specifics and positions.

He does not even have a clue what he stands for. Have you seen interviews with this guy? Go to youtube and do a search on his name. You should see him. He does not even know what TARP is. He does not stand a chance of winning. But to be honest...the dems never really had a chance at winning it anyway...DeMint is too popular out here.

You should see his latest thing...he says he is going to solve our unemployement problem by having the unemployed in south carolina make "action figures" of him for the state to sell. I am not making this up. I wish I was. He is not joking. He is serious. Well at least the election won't be boring. He is suppost to debate DeMint soon. that should be a laugh a minute to watch.

yes i've heard about alvin greene. his win had got to be the most unlikely win in election history. its actually funny when i think about it as the other guy was smearing himself everywhere and paying alot of money to get votes and this guy comes along and doesn't do all that and still wins. the guy who lost was saying this is crazy. Hilarious!

As long as he does not end up in jail first. Not just for the pervert charges against him...but he may also be in bigger trouble. He told the state of SC he was broke when he was arrested for being a pervert...so they gave him a court appointed attnory. But then he turns around and has the money to pay 10,000 to enter the primary race. So either he lied to the court...which will land him in hot water...or someone gave him the money to run...which is illegal. So either way...this guy won't win and could probly end up in jail. The democratic party in this state SC...won't touch him. They have asked him to step down. He won't. So basically the party has decided not to help him at all in his general election race against DeMint. DeMint is hugely popular in this state. Greene does not stand a chance.
