Does honesty pay?

Yes, in my case it has paid me. Basically, I was a Vigilance Officer. For a few years, I was also a Security Officer in an Industrial undertaking. I had enough opportunity to earn from bad elements which is known as bribe or commission. In fact, I was given open hints for such type of easy money. It could have gone un-noticed as I was also head of the department. But God was always watching me. My father always taught me 'to earn honestly and spend lavishly'. This was also my principle. I feel proud that my entire service of 36 years, was unblemished without a black spot. I retired peacefully and fully satisfied. In what manner God responded and what He did for me and my family? Everything. My both sons are well placed and their family lives are quite satisfactory. I always say 'this is what I have earned'. Money is always immaterial to me and my family. And we really enjoy our lives. I only wish that corruption is eating our society and worst affected are poor people. If we all join in eradication of corruption, our World would be better one to live in for each and everybody.

Yes, honesty pays! If we are really honest with our work, family, friends and especially with our own life, it will come in the right time.

Honest does not only mean not to take bribe. One should be honest in all his deeds. You can't be honest in one field and dishonest in other. Thanks for your reply.

yes..you are correct.as being honest does not mean that you are honest for 1 or two hours. It actually means , to stay honest ,whatever the situation is.

yes I completely agree with you. As, if you would have taken bribe or something like that, then today it would have made you feel bad about yourself, as you would think that god will punish you for the deeds, and hence you would have felt stressed, etc. but just see...now you are so satisfied , with the way that you had done your job, honestly. and you have satisfaction, which , according to me is something money can't buy. So honesty really pays, in ways unexpected.

You are perfectly right. The happiness and satisfaction which I feel, have become cause of jealousy in the minds of some of my colleagues. Honesty always pays.

This is a great thought. Unfortunately, there are also a lot who'll just pretend to be honest but will lie when it'll benefit them. Sorta like hiding the lies behind the truth.

You are right friend. There are people who only show that they are honest. But you know the truth. The fact is that an Officer is not only required to be honest but his actions should also prove that he is honest.

It always pays to be honest. In everything even to the least amount there is to earn. The best price honesty gives is a clear conscience and an immeasureable peace of mind.....
