Does the weather have a big impact on your moods? It certainly is for me today, this is supposed to be our summer, the TV is full of pictures of glorious weather in the South of the country but here in the North West (where unbelievably we were put on drought watch yesterday!!) we have had days of continual rain. Today the sky is grey and now the rain is falling continually, but still my son has gone off to play cricket as it is an 'away' match so they have to turn up! My husband seems to be in a real bout of depression, my purse is very empty and I can't sit out in my garden, so I suppose that it's natural I'm feeling down. How is your weather making you feel today?

Hiya chem, It can have a bit of an impact on me but I try to overcome that moody feeling and shove it away somewhere. It can be very warm here and humid and after days and days of continual heat that can get to you as well. You can´t sleep properly and you feel naggy after so many weeks of it. I prefer the Rain I was born there and I was always happy whether it was cold and rainy or warm and Rainy. I suppose every mans grass always seems greener and Great Britains grass is always greener for me as I loved it there. I loved being in Wales with those so changeable Days and the lovely green hills and countryside. Cheer up chem nothing lasts a 100 years at least I hope not. Many times in Spain I have found myself with no money in my purse many many.

YEs, mood has alot to do with my mood. I have severe depression and also SAD in the winter. I get very badly depressed in the winter months. I have to really put forth an effort in the end of summer to not get gloomy or I could have a terrible experience in the winter. It ebbs and flows.

This has been a good day, weather wise. Somewhat hot, but it is summer. I felt all gloomy last week when we had so much rain though.

I'm hoping that this weather improves for when the children break up from school!! Today (Monday) is another gloomy looking day, a nice blue sky would make me feel so much better!!

Actually, today the weather is making me feel a LOT better than I have been. We had one full week of above-100F degree weather with a high of 107 (41.67C) with absolutely no rain and, yesterday, it RAINED!!! Today, it has reached a high of 74F which is SOOOOOOOOOOO much appreciated! I've been toying with the idea of going outside and starting my Fall garden, before it gets hot again. It's supposed to be in the lower 90's after today so today really is the only day I'd like to spend any amount of time outside. I know exactly what you mean about the weather and our mood. When it was so exceptionally hot, I didn't want to do anything, not even inside with central air conditioning. It's been very pleasant in the house but, because I couldn't spend my usual amount of time outside due to the extreme heat, it affected my entire days, not just when I would have normally been outside. When it rains for more than 24 hours, I'm the same way. No energy, no desire to do anything. The weather has been insane this year, hasn't it? We got over 8 feet of snow this past winter so our strange weather has been going on basically since last Fall. Actually, last Spring was exceptionally wet here. It rained so much that our lake rose to a level above our pier, which is normally about 1 1/2 to 2 feet above the water. My garden was washed out, at least the initial planting. I started a new garden once the rain slowed down but it didn't have enough time to produce a normal amount. I hope we can all get back to "normal" soon! We're getting a small break from the weather today, I hope you will soon, too.

I think it is the 'red tape' that is bothering me more than the weather!!

It's sunny today in my country, especially in my place, Bali. I feel so excited doing my job. This is Monday and I have great feeling after two days holiday weekend. Even though rain fall occasionally, I still excited through my daily activities. Indeed, the weather always influenced our moods but I always try not too follow my moods. There are many thing that I have to do, so I have to beat bad moods.

I think that I could just do with a couple of weeks in Bali!! Lucky you

Sorry you are having terrible weather. I must admit that the rain and grey days do not do very much for me... come move down here in the south, it hit 32 yesterday, and today it is just as hot. It's a joke about the hose pipe ban, we have had nothing as regards that yet, even though we have had no rain for a few weeks, so why the heck have they put one in place where you live especially as it so wet up there at the moment??? I just don't get some people!!! I must admit, I hate being cooped up indoors, thats why I make the most of our summer whilst we have it, because as soon as I see that sun shining I am happy. Hopefully the sun will come back out again for you soon, so you can get back out your garden, and enjoy the sunshine.

I think it is that stupid ban that makes you feel worse !! Even though it's raining I feel like going out and switching it on

Here in the United States we are having a heat wave. Sure wish you could send us some of that rain, we could send you some of our sun and heat. I don't do well with temps over 85F degrees, have no idea what that is in C. Once it gets to 90 and up I need to find the very least to do as I will be 'sick' if I try doing anything. I would welcome your rain. We are suppose to get some? but right now the sun is shinning very hotly on my back and it is only 8:30am!!!!! Tonight we have a church dinner - youth fund raiser for our kids to go to youth camp. Tomorrow is our church picnic. Friday we leave to go on a week long church campmeeting. And on the weather last night it said 90F. for Thursday. I went one year, about 6 years ago, and it was so hot, I spent the whole time in my daughters camper SICK!!!!! I don't handle cold any better as it triggers the arthritus and I am all stiff and sore, so my favorite time is spring and fall. Both a long ways off.

Thank you, I didn't do well with that part in school. My daughter and I are going shopping afterwhile. At least right now, we are getting some clouds. Hope that it stays that way. I have to start laundry and get caught up again. Seems like it never ends and it is only my husband and I. The arthritis is really getting to me. Use to be wow I could clean the whole house all in one day, including mopping! Now if I get laundry done and dishes done I feel like I have accomplished something. Washer and dryer are in the basement so have to carry everything up and down 1 fllight of stairs. My goal was to have the house all cleaned by tomorrow, but I don't think it will happen. later...nice meeting you, don't think I have chatted with you before.

Well, with being on a drought watch and now it's raining is a good thing. We could also use the rain. I don't see it coming any time soon. It's 8 at night and it's 91F and 99 with the heat index. So it's very hot, at least it's not very humid or it would be really miserable to go outside. The heat isn't the worse part, it's the hot air that smacks you around every time you step outside. Inside isn't to cool, because I don't want a expensive electric bill on top of it. I think if it rains, I will go outside and run around in it, lol.

the weather can turn you mood around for sure. I know for me the rain and either bring me down or give me a sense of being cleaned. the hot weather if i allow it to will make me very angry. I am learning to not allow the weather and all if it's many changes to influence my mood so much

For sure. here in Arizona, USA, the weather is so hot no one can go even sit out for a little while and i have to if i want to smoke and yet im disabled from COPD but have nothing else in my life to be happy about except my little dog that usually has been spending time inside with our visitors which is my sons gf visiting from NY. and her little boy. these people in my house right now and my dog seem to ignore most of my wishes with everything. and i cant escape. so i feel your pain as a prisoner of curcumstances.

I think sometimes the weather does put me in certain moods. I hardly get depressed when it rains or if it is cloudy outside. I actually just get relaxed and sleepy and do not feel like going anywhere. I take that as a time to recharge. My favorite type of whether during the summer is thunderstorms which may make no sense to others. I like the sounds of the storm and how when the storm is over, the air seems so much clearer and instead of it being super hot, it cools everything down, even if it is temporary. I only hate rain when I want to go swimming but I tend to sty out of the heat. I live in the south of the US so it gets hot ALL the time and sometimes it makes me cranky, so I guess that is why I love spring whether the most. Thank God I do not have allergies! lol

yes, weather does play a major role in my mood.. That is because many times weather spoils my schedule and work plans.. In my country it is hot all the time - we can say throughout the year..so when it rains we enjoy it..But I never like incessant rain..

Sorry to hear that you have a gloomy day, oldchem. It is very pleasant in the midlands. My kids are enjoying the garden, running around everywhere. I would feel blue too if I have to be cooped up in the house with those two. They completely drained whatever energy I have. Hopefully the sun would come out shining soon.

hi dear, am sorry for that now it feels like you have been left all alone by yourself. i have to admit that the weather sets up our moods in one way or another as here am still a student and the weather is so damn cold. i probably saw the sun 2 months ago..! i have to wake up each day at 4.00am for my studies and leave for school at 6.30am amidst the mild cold and i cant lie to you that our class of 12 students now has a mere 6-7 showing up each morning including me yet our end of year semister exams are a week away from now. all i can say is do make sure your son keeps warm and cheer up your husband, you are the wife and mother everyone seeks comfort from you dear. Keep Warm& Cheers!

Yes i think the weather just contributes to your already down mood. Especially when the weather is like we have been having, with the 90's degree heat, that is killing us.It makes me cranky, once I get hot, and I don't want to do anything but sit insice in the cool.Don't feel too alone when you speak of your purse being empty, lots of us are going through the same thing. We don't have a nice garden to sit out in, maybe a back patio, but the bugs are so thick out there looking for a place to get into. Be thankful you are getting some rain at least. I used to live in Fla. and they would cut the watering of the yards and things like that off for weeks at a time, watching the grass die was very depressing.

Yes, the weather can have an impact on my moods. If it is grey overhead and raining, then I can feel myself not exactly feeling miserable, but just indifferent. When it is hot an humid like reccently, I can feel extremely lethargic and not want to do anything, but I do what I need to do anyway. It may be the weather, or more than likely it is me. If I was to hear fantastic news on a dark and rainy day, then I would feel great, and if I was to hear tragic news on a beautiful sunny morning, then I would feel down. So it is me? Or it is the weather? _Derek

i'm not exactly a great fan of the weather here... blistering heat when the sun is up, and drenching rain when otherwise. and cold nights to top it off.. i think it kind of has an effect on my mood swings too...

Here the sky is grey too, but i love rain and i'm not in a bad mood, because of that. When it's rainy i want to have a cup of tea and company for talking about ever green philosophy :) And i don't have TV, may be that helps me to handle the rainy summer, but i always loved and still love storms, so ... i think it's just character :)
