Today is World Population Day

Today is World Population Day. Do you know what is the population of the world. It is 6,80,000,0000 and it is expected that it would increase to 9,00,000,0000 by 2050. Obviously, this increase in population would cause biggest shortage of food and drinking water. Unfortunately, my Country is a major contributor to this increase of population. In the entire World, 300 children take birth every minute and out of this, 60 take birth in India only. India is likely to surpass China by 2030 when Indian population might reach 1,53,000,0000. This is causing serious problems in my Country. Government does not appear to have political will to contain this population explosion and they feel satisfied by giving advertisements in TV and Newspapers. Even people do not seem to have any concern for this serious problems. Situation demands a very strict code of conduct to contain this population growth as China had done. Unfortunately, I do not see any improvement in Government stand in near future.

udaymohan Cannot the government implore peoplee to limit the size of their families or is this sort of a no no. I mean birth control has helped in my country the US. it seems to me to be unkind to bear more children than one has the money to care for.I would think birth control would help a whole lot.

Hatley, your suggestion to limit the mebers of family is definitely good and China implemented this theory. Unfortunately in India, a political will is missing as all poticians have only one goal and that is votes even at the cost of dividing society. India is definitely rising but we have failed to solve this problem mainly because a big population of India is poor and iilliterate and these people know only one thing- more hands in family mean more manual jobs.

Fast growth of population is another problem in our country. Lots of graduate students can't find decent job because of shortage of job offers, lots of beggars are scattering in the street, homeless people, foodless people.. too sad we can't solve such problem easily.. i pity the next generation people. :(

I Want to know where are you come from? China or India.I'm a chinese. Speed of growth of population to fall becaues we country implement the policy that each couple have one child only. About 20 years later, population of the old will enlarge fast.SO anther problem is coming. In the century, population of chinese will continue on this level, even bigger.

Thanks for reminding . i really forgot that but to say the truth it is not very pleasing to think about the problems caused by population explosion. government and people together should do the needful to decrease the population. one child policy should be implemented in populated countries and government should encourage people to follow it. china has set an excellent example which should be followed by other countries

100% agree!! Though it would really be hard to implement, especially in democratic country like mine. :( Thinking about this makes me sad.

This is our textbook - This also teach about responsible parenthood.
We should observe responsible parenthood and reproductive health. Let us be sure that all have access to good education and a happy childhood

Fast growth of population is also a problem in my country. Both the church and the government recognize this problem, and there has been an on-going debate on how to control the population by natural family planning or using contraceptives. In my opinion, the best way to do it is to use the China's policy of one-child per family. How we can implement it? I dont know.. But I hope they find a way to solve this major problem.

The government of the day must take the lead in controlling population growth. It seems that China is faring better than India in this respect due to their 1 child policy. Is there any particular reason why India is not enforcing population control more strictly?
