Toy story 3 doesnt come out till next week in the uk and so i decided to pre-order my tickets, but i cannot go see films in 3d because it hurts my eyes too much to watch them, as i wear very strong glasses usually. I've just found out the closet cinema to me doin toy story 3 in 3d is 1 1/2 away. I personally find this appauling! Surely they have to cater to everybodys needs? Do you think that ALL films at the cinema will just bei n 3D eventually?

Toy Story 3 was great, but it wasn't neccesary to see in 3d. I saw it in 3d IMAX, and most parts you could see without the glasses! I don't think that all films will be in 3d eventually--it's very expensive to make, you know. And I'd bet that sooner or later we'll find out that it's absolutley terrible for our eyes! I think it is more probable that all films will be made in IMAX before 3d... Enjoy your movie!!

First off, 1 1/2 what away from you?? I have seen Toy Story in 3D and the 3D aspect adds nothing to the film! It really doesn't! It is just a gimmick to get more money out of people to go to the cinema! The movie itself is amazing, one of the best films I have ever seen. Certain films, yeah 3D adds to it, but most of the ones I have seen it has not vastly improved the quality of the film by being in 3D.

Yeah but i dont want to watch it in 3d and thats all is avaliable. it just really bugs me. I cant watch it in 3d for too long it hurts my eyes too much after about 30 minutes. And i dont really wanna just take the glasses off because not only am i playing more for something im not going to use, but also the red and blue lines on the screen would really bug me!

Me to, thats how close the nearest Cinema is to me 3D or not. But it really doesn't add anything to Toy Story. I saw Shrek 4 3D and it was more 3D-ey as was Alice in Wonderland.

I hope not. I don't like 3D movies at all. Plus, it doesn't really make much sense to put some docile movie like a romantic comedy in 3D. Effects-driven action flicks... sure. Maybe. I still won't watch them though. I'm not a fan of 3D. I have to constantly blink to keep the image in focus and I usually have a headache by the end of it. I saw Toy Story 3 in regular 2D, and I still loved it. No, I don't think they have to cater to EVERYONE'S needs. It's entertainment. It's not exactly vital to your survival and society for there to be a 3D theater near you.

I understand what your saying in that respect, its not vital, perhaps i should of worded that differently. I just feel thats its idiotic that i have to travel that far JUST to watch a movie, a large percent of the population have the same trouble as i do.

I'm sorry... I'm a little confused. You said in the beginning of your post that you can't watch 3D, and then you said that the nearest theater playing it in 3D is too far. Did you mean the nearest theater playing in 2D or do you really want to see it in 3D? Is there a close theater playing it in 2D? It's really not the film company's fault that the 3D theater is so far from you. I bet if they had it their way, anyone who wanted to see the movie would be within walking distance of a theater showing it in the format they wanted. They'd make more money that way. It's more the fault of the nearby theaters for not stepping up and getting a 3D theater, the companies that own the theaters for not building more around you, and maybe the state's fault for not giving them the land to do so. There's more factors here than you'd usually think about. I'm sure they're not doing it just to spite you.

yea not a big fan of the whole 3d thing. but i just saw despicable me in 3d with the nephew, his choice we sat almost all the way in the back that helped alot. but when my eyes started to hurt i took the glasses foff and just watched part of the movie without them. the other thing i like to do is call a friend to "come hangout" then while you are "hanging out" just say hey we should go see that movie... it works for awhile at least :)

I hope not all films will be 3d in the future. I tried watching Shrek in 3d. Yes, the effects were nice and all. But after the movie, I was dizzy from the 3d glasses. It was really dizzy watching the movie.

I can not agree with you more . I have the same feelings after I watch the 3D movies in the cinema . Though the pictures are more lively , I feel dizzy by the 3D glasses . Do you think so ?

It looks like many studios finding a nice way to multiply their revenues by releasing them in 3D format since it charges higher admission. However, not all movies need this kind of treatment. Clash of The Titans is a disaster, totally not worthed watching it on 3D. Avatar is a really great one, but my eyes got so tired after wearing 3D glasses for 3 hours while also wearing my negative 8 glasses. As long as 3D still generating the money, I think the audience and the studio will digging up this 3D idea..

I Agree I think the first few times it is the novelty of the 3D, but now they are bringing out everything in 3D just because they can!

It is a possibility but I hope not. Everyone wants to have a taste of reality, to actually be a part of the movie and 3D does that for some people. Personally, I prefer reality as in real life, going outside and experiencing nature. If you want ot be a part of real life then live your life, plan trips and take them. Spend quality time with friends and family doing things that you enjoy. A few movies in 3D is okay but the entire whole doesn't want the glasses and the high prices.

That would most probably be a yes. As it is nowadays the people demand more and more entertainment but the stories are just vanishing. So there would be no entertainment if a particular movie isn't in 3D. That's what i think. When a movie is in 3D i get this weird feeling. I remember the first time i saw a 3D movie. I saw the sea world with sharks and eels and octopus and all so it was pretty scary for me to watch. So i think every movie is soon gonna be 3D.

I think 3d in films is just an added bonus, certain films with a lot a visual effects e.g. sci-fi would indeed benefit from 3d but there are certainly a lot of films that wouldn't. I understand that the cause of the eye strain is due to the fact that the glasses are forcing your eyes to distinguish either the left or right interleaved information on the screen. The last film I watched in 3d I had to rest my eyes every now and then. there may be long term issues on the eyes but we won't know until about 5 years later.

It was already launch here in the Philippines like 2 weeks ago and in 3D as well. I really haven't tried watching cinema in 3D because I just don't like to. Aside from the fact that it's expensive and I find it awkward to wear glasses while watching.
