Bravo Spain. It took extra ling but they did it! They won their first World Cup! And I had a great time following the matches. I had seen a few matches before but this was the first World Cup I followed from beginning to end! I has hoping the Dutch would win but I wasn't surprised Spain Finally won. I asked my soccer friends her and more said Spain would win. As for all of you soccer teachers I want to thank you. I saw off sides during the final! And Spain Was Not off sides on the goal! So thank you. What are your thoughts on the World Cup?

I am so worried for team Brazil. They will be the host country. They Better win or the players are in serious trouble! I hope next World Cup is just as exciting.

Spain won it and they deserved to win it. It would have been the greatest robbery in broad daylight if the Dutch had won it after the way they played the game. I think they completely killed off the spectacle of the World Cup finals and even their home fans would have really left with a bad taste in their mouth. So Spain fulfilled my prophecy that they will win the cup. I can probably join the likes of Paul the Octopus for the next world cup in predicting the results of the matches :) Cheers! Ram

Spain deserves to win. The Dutch play dirty with lots and lots of harsh tackles to have ball possession from Spain. It worked, but in the other hands, the Dutch only spent their time doing tackles without doing any significant offense to the Spain team. However, Arjen Robben played brilliantly and got 2 very good chance to strike a goal unfortunately Iker Casillas proved himself to be the best goalkeeper in the world.

They had a great competition so they should be proud. One thing I want to point out is the refs, I am shocked at the bad calls throughout the competition including today with Puyol's foul on Robben.

For a while there I thought Every player on the pitch was going to have a yellow card. It seemed like if a guy sneezed on a player it was a yellow card!

i was not supporting anyone among these two teams as i am supporter of argentina and brazil. but iniesta scored the goal when it was 5 more minutes to penality. if he had not scored that goal it was all set to penalties and u know when it goes to penalty we cant say who will win. anyways nice playing spain!!!!!!!!!! congradssss.

In fact many of my friends predicted Spain would be the winner before the World Cup started. Since Argentina and Germany was out, then I expected Dutch would be the winner. If they won it this time, it was also their first time to be the champion. Now Spain won the match at the end and congratulations to them! I love China

I am very glad. Not only was the team that I wanted as a champion, but they played very well and did a wonerful campaign. This last game was beautiful Holland did very well too: it takes the two teams to play well to have a beautiful match. The octopus was right (although I would not trust him (it?) ¡¡¡VIVA ESPAÑA!!!

Finally they DID it!!Glad to see Spain won, but a little bit disappointed that they scored a goal after Heitinga was sent off. But overall, the Dutch seemed to get frustrated since the first half, so many fouls and cards, even though some of the spanish were booked too...It is time for Spain to prove that soccer can unite them despite different ethnic background and history revenge during the Franco regime that prioritized Real Madrid ( but why Xavi and Puyol were waving Catalan`s flag?hope not symbol of separatism:). Congrats, Spain!!See you in Brazil 2014

A very well deserved victory and the pick for me was spain from the start of the tournament. I kept telling my people, they will just keep urging themselves forward with a tight or low score margin, either 1:0 or 2:1, like they did in the Euro championships in 2008. They were the better side last night and Holland was a good team, i just it,s not yet time for them to grab their first world cup but it was Spain time.

Congrads to great spain!!! Great spain.it is the first time that they get to the final, but they grasp it and win,so they are great, eapecially more great than Holland! Another, they play beautiful football.there is no team that can do it.brazil can't,Holland can't,germany can't,argentina can't...so Spain is the most great in the world.I envy Spainish, they are happiness.but I am also happiness, because I support it from the begaining of the World Cup,their performance make me exciting and untired, happiness.

Bravo Spain. After Europe they have conquered the world.Spain played better than the Netherlands so they deserve their title.Iniesta was the luckiest man on the field to score that goal.Holland had their chances but Robben missed them.I think that the World Cup was great and i would like to watch games like the final more often. At some matches the refferees weren't very good but they got what they deserved.

sarahruthbeth22, I suppose as one famous singer once sang "Waka Waka - This is time in Africa" - I just have to say that Africa one of the most fascinating and exotic country has another fairy tale to tell from this 19th FIFA World Cup Soccer tournament. Just when we thought that Africa is probably primitive to the game of soccer, I think teams like South Africa and Ghana really showed another side of Africa, as far as soccer is concern. A fairy tale indeed starting with the qualification of North Korea in this tournament, the country that has never seen the light of days to be actually featured in this highly prolific tournament is indeed a first for their players. Then, the Argentinians who has lived a fairy tale to the quarterfinal stages, a team without a defense who has played and lasted all the way is indeed quite incredible in today's soccer standards. Just how did they last so long, under the affable "hand of god" Diego Maradona is really a memorable feat. A lesson about leaving everything to the last minute and paying for it is indeed carved deep in the hearts of the 700 million viewers and team Italy the former World Champion who left it everything to the last 10 minutes is just asking too much even for divinity to set a miracle for them. So, it was indeed a touching moment for Italy's team captain as he appears with at the Finals of the tournament to release the cup for the next world champion. There will always be heroes in every tournament but there will be equally a fair share of villains as well. However, I am sure all of you will have to agree with me that Luis Suarez from Uruguay will be deeply remembered for his "hands of the devil" and his audacious hero claim - just have displease everyone who knows and loves soccer. Quite deservingly, they did not win even the last medal placing of the tournament. (No offense, to any Uruguay members here.) Last but not least, Africa is indeed Africa as we discover wildlife to be a feature of the world cup as well - Paul the octopus from Germany, Mani the parakeet from Singapore and Lin Ping the panda from Thailand. So, we have an all round viewership now probably more than 700 million since it excludes our wildlife friends. So, Ngiyabonga South Africa! For all the wonderful memories and fantastic hospitality.
