I can share your feeling.
English is a very important course in Chinese university.
Because my English is very poor as well,I can't give you some suggestion about improving English.
But I can tell you that Band6 certificate is not important like you think when you seek job.
Even though many international companiese require Band6 certificate,if you can communcate with foreigner fluently,they will hire you.
PS:my band4 score:75, band6 score: 58(haven't passed)in 2004 when I am freshman.

Last month,I attended a telephone interview.
At that time,I can't catch what a Indian said.

According to my openion spoken english is very simple and we can learn ourselves.
Actually my mother tongue in telugu(the language of andhrapradesh, india), when i trying to talk english words as per pronounciation, my friends were laughed at me. Because it sounds like different and they may feel funny.
English is not our language, but it is essential to grown up our career.
We have to lean ourselves, it is better, when ever any mistake occurs we can have chance to rectify. First of all we must love the English language...

I do not know what is the - best way in which we can easily learn English, but I have some ideas that I can share with you. I teach English for eight years and still has much to learn. Ways in which you can learn the English language are: as you learn a new word by writing the word several times to nauyaite its spelling. Do more exercise and participate in clubs and walk to private lessons with specialist teachers. So you will learn English as quickly and easily . if you really wanna learn English well,you shall make more efforts on listening and speaking.oral English is more important than passing exams.but i still wish you good luck in the coming exam ! In addition I listen to radio in english and watch movies in english, which helps. This is my issue . I holp I help .

An easy and probably fun way to learn English, is read :). Prefebly out loud too, so you can also practise the way you pronounce words.
In New Zealand, people don't even recognize me having any sort of accent, they think I'm a local haha. That is until they look at my last name.
It's a bit hard for me to give you anymore advice than that, because I don't know what it is in particular that you're struggling in English.
Spelling? Grammar?

We have parts in the English exam,they are listening comprehension,fast reading,writing,translation,reading comprehension and choosing words to fill the blank,I have problems in almost every part,and reading comprehension and writing are the two important points,I don't know how to improve my skill of reading and writing.I have tried to do a lot of exercises,but it has no help.

A good way I found to improve my writing skills - join a writers forum! You'll pick up on a lot of grammar points and learn quick.
One of my favourites where I spent about an year was "mywriterscircle" I still come and visit by sometimes just to say hello ;)

Honest and frank to say,I have no idea.Maybe we should recite more words and learn how to use them.We must be skillful in speaking English.From this website I find that I can't use what I have learnt as I like.Exam is boring, we can't study English just for it.English is a tool which we can use it to exchange ideas and learn from each other all over the world.Wish you have a good day.

Thank you for your admiration,I know you are Chinese too,and you also live in GuangZhou ,is it right.Maybe you think it is enough for us to use English to communicate ,but for student,only the examination is the most important thing,scores is the one who care most.And in the future ,when we graduate and go to find a work,ceretificates about English also help someone to get a more decent job.So I must try hard to learn well,and get as many ceretificates as possibile.

i think the English Band examination tells nothing but your exam-skills.i passed both Band 4 and 6 examinations at 2006,with the scores of 616 and 479.at the same time,i also passed the national computer rank examination(band three for PC Technology).however,i cannot communicate fluently with the foreigners in English till now.(i'm not so good at computer technology either.)so,if you really wanna learn English well,you shall make more efforts on listening and speaking.oral English is more important than passing exams.but i still wish you good luck in the coming exam !

I don't know where you are, but if you can receive English speaking television shows or books that can possibly help with learning English. I am a native English speaker, but what helps me learn other languages is through television and books. Also talking with people that speak the language fluently can help.
