Let's go to the beach.

Until several weeks ago, I had rather taken it for granted that I live in Bali, one of the most beautiful places in the world. Last June, an online friend from Beijing-China contacted me to say how happy she was that finally for the first time in her life she was able to go to a beach. I had a lump in my throat hearing her said so. Living in Bali, an island with long stretch of white sandy beaches makes me forgetting that there are people who live in a vast continent where they have to fly and spend much money to go to a beach. Do you live near a beach? Do yo want to live somewhere without a beach? Which would you prefer?

Hello Jennyze. You're so lucky to live in such a beautiful place. I live inland so I have to travel to a beach and the nearest one is about an hour away by car. I have friends who live on the coast and I keep meaning to visit them and spend some time by the sea. I'd love to live near a beach :)

Autumn, inland in England should be pretty, too. I would love to be able to visit England someday. If I have house in Bali, maybe we can swap places for a couple of weeks. That sounds great.

Yes, I heard that weather in England is unpredictable. I would still like to visit though. I like countries with history, legends and myth. I would love to explore those castles in your country, and imagine what was I at that age in your country. Do I make sense?

That sounds wonderful :) We're never too far from a beach or nice countryside here so you'd love a visit. I like walks in the countryside as much as I like days on the beach but the only problem is our weather. We can't really plan a day at the beach, it usually has to be done on the spur of the moment when we're lucky enough to have a hot day :) Then again if I lived near a beach I'd be happy to walk on the beach in any weather.

The beach is one of my favourite places! A good place to go during weekends and have a picnic or just a simple gathering with friends. I heard that it is not so good to live near the beach though because the sea salt makes our furniture turn rusty and also people are more prone to getting rheumatism. Going there once in a while is good enough. We have also tried camping overnight which was very enjoyable when we can lie down and look at the stars (not the satellites) blinking down at us

Wow, reading at your description I want to lie down on the beach at night and see those stars, unfortunately I am prone to coldness. Yes, living near the beach has that effects on furniture and people, and also dark and rough skin.

I live pretty close to the beach, and I am very happy about. It is only a short drive from our home. In the area where I live there are several beaches and many islands, that is one of my favourite parts about my area. I´n the past I have never lived that close to the beach. My husband and I often go to the beach, we like to go for a walk near the beach or sit somewhere and look at the waves. During the summer months we sometimes go swimming, the rest of the year the water is too cold.

Porcospino, that is the benefit of living near the beach. Everyday seems like a holiday to me. Sure, I work from 9am to 5pm, still the feeling that I can go enjoying the beach anytime I want it, night, evening, early morning, day time... makes it like everyday is a holiday.

Hi friend,I love beaches,I like to spend the evenings in a beach, but I live in a place where there are no beaches anywhere nearby. But people living in a place near by a beach get used and never long to see a beach. But we people living faraway from beaches long to see a beach and are happy like a small child and love to play in the beach.I have been to a beach only thrice in my life time.I enjoyed to my hearts content by spending a whole day in a beach. Thanks for sharing happy mylotting.

Yes, I love spending a day on the beach, even if only to read a book, or to lay down and get asleep with the fresh and cool air. Well, if you don't live near a beach, you must have live in a beautiful area with mountains on the background perhaps? That would be nice, too.

Wow! I envy you! I wish I could go and spend every waking day of my life in Bali. How I wish that I could go there someday. We have a lot of beaches here in the Philippines but we still have to ride a bot to reach the most beautiful beaches here. We were supposed to go to Anawangin in Zambales last summer but it was cancelled at the last minute. Bummer. It is probably one of the most beautiful places here in the Philippines. When I have earned enough money, I promise myself that I will buy myself a house near the beach and live there until the day I die. I just love the beach so much.

Well, you do not need to live near a beach, as long as you are able to enjoy a beach, that is enough.

I don't live near a beach the closest beach we have is about 1000km away, I live in a town that is surrounded by natural beauty and we have a place with an artificial beach called Sun City, I try go to the beach as often as I can, we need to experience it atleast once in our lifetimes. In my general opinion people who live near the beach don't take time off to go there. My uncle stays near the beach but he hardly ever goes neither does my cousins it is indeed sad.

That's true, most people live near the beach took it for granted and ignored the calling of the waves. However in Bali, beach has an important role for Balinese, to let go of the urn of the beloved deceased family. Also, it is where we can mix with all the foreigners from the various countries. An artificial beach is almost as good as a real beach.

Just like your online friend from Beijing,I have never gone to the beaches although I live near from East China sea because when I had time,I had no money and when I had money,I had no time completely. How poor I am!However,I would like to live in a vast continent rather than live near the beach becuse I consider that is dangerous when the hurrican comes. Say a word from the heart,I dream to go to the beach to feel the vastness of the sea,but one condition is ---go with my boyfriend and he will pay all the travel fees for me,lol.

If I live there I wouldn't even find the time to reply here! Instead I would just enjoy the ambiance of the place! I can only go to the beach 1-2 times a year. You are so lucky to live there and don't take it for granted. All those FRESH air and the scene is just so beautiful. I haven't been there before but I wish I could. Wanna trade place?

Yes, I am lucky to be living in a beautiful island. I hope you can come again to Bali, and we can hang out on the beach all day and forget all the discussions here. But I need the money (or so I thought). Would love to trade place for two weeks, if I have the means.

I love to live in a place with lots of nice beaches and beautiful spots. Here in our place, we have lots of beautiful beaches and diving spots but its not near from our house so I still need to spend a little money to enjoy those white sands and clear waters.
