Hi to everyone from Manila. I am planning to visit there next month just for 3 days and two nights for leisure. I hope you can give me tips as to places to visit, affordable places to shop and dine. First I would like to know if there's a decent yet affordable hotel/motel to stay near Mall of Asia. And aside from Mall of Asia and Ocean Park where else can I possibly have a good time in Manila? I would really appreciate your response.

Well, there's a place in EDSA Taft (SOGO) that you can stay at. Lots of Motels/Hotels around that area and Malate as well. MoA is good - malls seem affordable now, especially if you stick with their Food Courts - expect 70 to 150 peso meals. :) If you really wanna save, go for sidewalk vendors - it's cheaper. Cheapest (and probably the most dangerous spot to be at) would be metro manila, but I pretty much know my way around here. Score : Manila - Cheap 5 Dangerous 5. Cubao - Cheap 5 Dangerous 4 Pasay - Cheap 4 Dangerous 4 Ortigas - Cheap 2 Dangerous 2 Quezon City - Cheap 2 Dangerous 2 Makati - Cheap 3 Dangeours 2 Taguig - Cheap 1 Dangerous 1 Or you can pay me as your travel guide - that's coz i'm a bum-for-hire! muhwahaha.

they also have in SOGO cubao infront of araneta and farmers market, they have a per month stay there and most of the tenant are working and students. though im not sure for 3 days stay but its like a bed space, you can choose with aircon or not and its complete already with waiter. i used to rent there for 2 months in the 10th floor when i work around cubao, they called it penthouse as their office is in the 9th floor. the place is nice i only pay 1700 per month and its already aircondition and we can order food and the waiter with uniform will bring it up to our room. its good for female only no male can go inside 10th floor aside from waiter so its safe place. they have different door and elevator going to 10th, only executive or employees and tenants can use that elevator and theres guard in the area.

Im live in manila. Maybe you can go shopping in Mall of Asia lots of boutique shops there and lots of choices. You can stay maybe in pan pacific hotel or pearl manila. It's almost near everything in Manila. Or if you want you can check in hotels in Makati. Both are near the Airport..

Thanks for your response. I tried checking the rates for the 2 hotels that you mentioned but both hotels have quite pricey rates and it's way beyond my budget. I am not really looking for a 4 or 5 star hotel since I will be outdoors most of the time. A 2 to 3 star hotel would be fine. I'll keep looking.

Hmmm maybe you can check in Hotel Juliano near Luneta.. I think it's a 2 star hotel. This might be the one youre looking for. It's in Ermita manila It pretty much close to evrything also. And some of our mylotters recommend you to Tutuban mall, 168 Mall and Divisoria mall. You might enjoy youre shopping here cause it really are cheap.. Ahahahah Goodluck

Hi there, Hope you enjoy your trip here in Manila. Mall of Asia is good during the day, But try Star City at night if you like Teen Parks with rides, or better yet travel down south, around 15 minutes from the airport, you'll see Enchanted Kingdom. There are many cheap market in Manila. Try Viramall at San Juan City. Just be careful when you arrive here.

Enchanted Kingdom is just 15 minutes away from the airport? I thought it's farther than that?

Hi caliya, there is a Condotel open now at the Southern end of MOA, you can make a reservation there if convenience or a starting point is important for you. Be certain to ask for their rack or unpublished rates. There are many search engines and from many sources for accommodations in Manila; I know a lot more than I let on at my website, but I do provide you a tool to compare costs and amenities there...it is one of many available. Be sure to arrange for your transportation as best you can ahead of your visit to maximize your time here. best wishes, Eric

Well you can also visit Fort Santiago and Intramuros when you got spare time. A lot of affordable hotels can be found along Padre Faura and Mabini area. Have fun!

Hello there, caliya! Ive been to Manila last two months and i can tell you some places that you really love to visit. Like Mall of Asia, Ocean Park also was really a great adventure. I didnt know the affordable hotels near in Mall of Asia because i lived in my friend's house. But may be there is no cheap hotels there all is very expensive yet comfortable to live. Happy trip in advance.

if you want to shop bargain then you can go to divisoria or quiapo as theres too many apparel there that are cheaper though of course if your not familiar with the place you better bring someone with you as theres too many people in those area. i dont think you can get cheaper price newar mall of asia nor ocean park so better look those somewhere in ortigas or cubao. you can also check hotel online for more details and send them email for inquiry. i cant think of any place where you can have good time since most part of manila are the same as theres mall everywhere and not much park here.

The hotels near at the Mall of Asia are Heritage, Sofitel, actually there is also Manor hotel, Sogo, Microtel Inn and Suites but unfortunately I don't memorize names but there are a lot of motels near in Mall of Asia. By the way where are you from? As far as I've heard Ocean Park is great but Baltimore is far better compare to that place. You can actually go in historical places such as Luneta Park where you can see the monument of the national hero, intramuros, if you want you can go to Star City the amusement park. There are many places to go in Mall of Asia especially there are plenty of bars and restaurant on that place.

well you'd have to visit MOA definitely. for dirt cheap items go to divisoria but make sure you're not wearing anything flashy like jewelry and bringing a lot of money is a no no... there are atms there so you won't have to lug around a big bag of bucks hmmm lemme see what else can i give you... oh yeah don't use your cellphone when walking outside... we've got snatchers popping up everywhere divisoria is a nice place to shop in

Cheapest place to shop is divisoria but I wouldn't recommend that because it's quite crowded and you might get irritated. Best place to shop would be greenhills. Items are cheap too but be sure to have a Filipino with you who can haggle. The sellers tend to give a higher price to foreigners. There are plenty of hotels but I don't know their rates so I can't really help you there. Try Makati or Otigas hotels because I think they are cheaper. You can book a room in Astoria, Ortigas for approx 3000 pesos a night. That would be around $70

I'll try to visit divisoria. Honestly 3,000 per night is beyond my budget. I am really hoping to find a hotel, motel or pension house around 600 to 1,000 per night.

Greenhills is the best if your not so familiar within the area. Divisoria and quiapo would be very risky on you part. Better be safe than never.
