Being Rejected For A Job

I am sure there are many people here on mylot who have tried to apply for a job within the last few years and have failed. You may have even gotten so far as the interview and a promise of a call back before you realized that call just wasn't going to come. Well that recently happened to me, and before I go on I think I might should say that I am sure a few of you will tell me to get back on that horse and try again, well I plan to but... I am scared to. I recently applied at a place and like I said above, got so far as the promise of a call back, I waited the whole weekend before calling back on Monday morning and finding out they went with someone else. This woman actually sounded sincere too. My husband told me to be glad that I didn't get the job, well I guess I am glad that I didn't get the job as I didn't really want it, but I didn't convey that in the interview. I was ever the picture of a good employee, I am quite sure. I boasted about past work even, and I still didn't get it, but I suppose I am happy nonetheless. However, My husband and I are going nowhere fast with him being the only breadwinner so I need to get it into gear and start applying. I have a few stipulations though, A. I want to find something third shift. B. I can only drive in the county we live in, and only during the day and with my husband. I got my permit months back and am still driving on it, for all who are curious and didn't already know. Okay so here's how I feel : 1. I need a Job so we can better ourselves BUT 2. I don't want to fail AND 3. I want third shift. I am already aware and semi willing to go with another shift if need be, but I would much much much rather go with third shift so my husband and I will be on the same shift. Anyone else going through this? Let me know about it.

Hi Cowgirl I think everyone has been through that But honest Sweetie do not let it put you of and just keep trying, I can understand also that you want to be at home when your Husband is, so why not just keep trying for what you have set yourself, it is no use taking a Job you do not like, both of you are doing well so far heading for what you are, so get the Job you want not just some Job that you will not like, it is the worse thing you can do Don't give up Sweetie, keep looking and applying

I will keep looking and applying for third shift, I'll have to figure out just where though. We have places here that I can apply for for third shift, but if it's in the other direction then what hubby is going well it'd be kind of hard to get me to work and him. I can only drive here in my county for now, and not at night either (as I've not driven at night). I will keep trying though and figure something out, if not then I guess I'll for something first shift so atleast I can come home and sleep and be awake most of the night to be with hubby when he's off work.

hi cowgirl One thing I've learned when applying for a job is that you have to be flexible. Employers don't want to worry about scheduling conflicts. First, get the job, then wait for an opportunity to get the hours you want. The main thing is to get a foot in the door. Get a resume together, and send it to local businesses. Apply in person, Apply online. Maybe even accept part-time for now to gain experience and a work history. Keep looking...something will happen.

Hi. I've worked before, I think it's my work history that pulls me down. It's, well it's sort of a bad work history. I had quit a few, gotten fired by one... two if you can't a one day thing but not sure if he filed the papers as fired as he said I could come back... Um when I had this last interview I told them I'd like third shift and she seemed fine with that, I was flexible as I said "just call me up and I'll come" and well I still didn't get it, but I think there's a reason I didn't and I just need to get out there and find a good opportunity. Thanks for your response, it's much appreciated.

I've been driving since I was 17, so that's not an issue. As for third shift, well I've always gone for day jobs. But being out of a job, looking, not getting a call back, etc., yep. It happens all the time. It's frustrating, you don't know when to call and check, but it seems to be common practice.

Yes, it's like if you ask when to call back you look like you think you're going to get the job, so you just have to guess. I usually give them a week unless they give me reason to think otherwise.

I have a suggest, why don't you try online works or do self employment. I am doing a freelancing job and I am loving it.. I earn online by working for different clients, I took self employment because most of my interviews were failed one. The reason, too many people are after one job and I never was able to win the race among that many people, I left this race and now did the job which I like with my own terms and condition. But getting work in Freelancing is not easy but I am able to manage somehow..

That's not really an option for me. I have to have a offline job or my husband and I will never be able to get loans etc. They look at both incomes when considering loans etc.

I remember when I was applying at Wal Mart I did not think I was gonna get the job,and I know you are worried baby, but you should not,you will be able to find a job under your stipulations, and if push comes to shuve you could probably get a second shift job so it would not be as bad a difference, all you really need to do is think positively and pray that God helps you with your efforts to find a job,and whatever job God wants you to have you will get,I love you with all of my heart and soul.

I know that I need to trust in God to deliver a job to me. I am just not quite sure why I feel this way. I would rather not have a second shift job but if I had to I would take one, though I could always go with first shift and the come home and sleep for awhile and stay up part of the night so that if nothing else when you are off we can be together.

I know I can't find work either. I have a college degree in elementary education and with the bad economy nobody is hiring yet. I am going back to school for my Master's degree in early Childhood Education and am hoping that by the time I am done I can find work. I really did not want to go back to school at first, but I really do not want to sit around at home doing nothing. I am working on my crafts and plan on selling online, but I am afraid that many people may not buy because of the economy. I make bath salts and soap so I am hoping that these items will sell. I want to wish you the best of luck. I am sure something will open up some day.

Hi, Looking for a job takes time and can't be rush. It is also depend on our luck. I remembered well when I first graduated in year 1999, I tried to find some bank jobs, but to no available. Although I have been to few interviews, but no reply from the companies. I never gave up,keep looking for a job,at last I got my first job with local company. The salary is not that high, but I am willing to learn. Since it was my first job, I am totally green with the environment. I was there for more than 2 years, till I was tired with that job,I decided to resign and looks for better job. Since I got my Permanent Resident status there, It is more easier for me to get a job by then. I looked for help through employment agency. It takes more than 1 month for me to get my next job. At last, I got my 2nd job at the bank,The pay is not bad and of course has better benefits. It was a 6 months contract job. After the contract over, I hopped for other job again. Lastly, I got another bank job at call centre as customer service officer. I was there for more than 1 year ,then I decided to resign as I will follow my husband back to his hometown. Now, I am unemployed,a full time housewife. I really can get back to the workforce community again one day . Good luck to you and always tell yourself never give up in your job hunting !!

Hi somecowgirl, I'm really sad to hear about this. And I know its so easy for me to just say move on. But believe me I know how frustrating it is when you get rejected for a job. Sometimes, its too frustrating and its easier to give up. But if we give up, that's where we start to become a failure. So we really have to keep moving forward. And sometimes, though its hard, we just need to look at the bright things that came our way. I hope things go better soon, I really wish you lots of luck. =)

I am currently employed, but looking for a better job, as money does seem to be spent faster than I can earn it, despite working around 60 hours a week. The last application got me to a 3rd interview, and a factory tour. They then promptly hired none of us! Keep looking and good luck.
