Can't tell TWINS apart!!

Weird thing happened this morning. I was sitting in the doctor's office with my princess awaiting her checkup appointment and this Italian guy walks in with some gorgeous twin girls, dressed identically. While parents are sitting in the waiting area, some converse while others look on strangely not comfortable speaking with people they don't know. He describes to us how he cannot distinguish the difference between his two twin daughters, no personality difference, no birthmark or anything of the sort. He ashamedly admits to not even being able to tell which one of his daughter's doctor's appointment was today without the obvious of one being sick. He also stated that if neither one were sick, his wife would've had to had accompanied him... this, to me is very sad. I don't think I could have two identical twin daughters and NOT be able to tell the difference. He looked off in desparation and disappeared through the swinging doors as one his daughter's names was called by the next available nurse. Could that have been YOU as a parent???

I'm not the parent of twins, but my best friend has twin daughters that are thirteen months old now. I remember when Kate and Claire were born and they weren't sure that they would be able to tell them apart they wrote a letter K on Kate's foot and a C on Claire's foot. Now that they are a little bit older, I don't think that they have the issues telling them apart, but I think if it were me it would be very difficult for me.

I, too, have seen that where parents stitch the initial in their clothing. That is common. And, if I honestly couldn't tell them apart, I'd do something similar! Thanks for sharing!!

I know identical twin men that are currently 34 years old. They look exactly the same and if one is out shopping a friend might think it is the other one. They both has blue eyes and dark brown hair plus they are both a stocky build. Thankfully one has very short hair and the other has hair of a average length for a man. I am a primary school teacher. One time I taught triplets: two girls and a boy. The two girls looked identical and I just couldn't tell them apart. I also taught another set of triplets, each one a boy. Each was different looking so that helped. Each was clever but had a different personality to the other ones. Their mom was a teacher at the school and the dad was a school governor. For the parents evenings I had to give their dad a half hour slot and discuss all three.

That's bogus. If they were my children, I'd still be able to tell them apart SOMEHOW... by something... and if I couldn't I'd dress them differently until I could!! But I haven't seen any TRULY identical twins in my life as of yet. Thanks for sharing!!

That actually made me laugh. He should just cut one of the girls hair short (At first I was thinking of tattoo). I don't know if that could be me. If the girls are babies or toddlers then it will be hard to tell. You didn't specify their age, just that they are not babies because they can talk. Or maybe he is just saying that as to emphasize how VERY identical they are.

That definitely couldn't have been me. And even if it were, I wouldn't have voiced it so OPENLY especially to people I didn't know. They were babies... closer to toddlers.... maybe about 2 or 3 years old. They both had very short haircuts and identical clothing lol. It was quite funny to watch! Thanks for sharing your views!!

I have known several sets of twins and eventually was able to tell them apart. We also have a set of twin girls at our church, they are about 15 months old and they look alike, but have different features if you really look closely. The parents said they could tell from the first minute they saw them without a problem. Parents are normally the only ones who can for awhile. That guy has issues. lol

Yea, I think that that guy either didn't really care to know to tell them apart or either he didn't spend enough time with them to be able to tell the difference. It was just weird to witness... because even if I had of felt that way, there's no way I'd tell that to complete strangers in a random doctor's office lol. Thanks for commenting!!

I am sure that their mom knows them apart. I am sure I would know. There are always little differences that moms notice. If dad was having that much of a hard time I would probably dress them in diffrent colors to help him lear the difference. At least he was willing to take them to the doctor and as they get older I am sure it will be easier to tell them apart or it may just be an ongoing family joke lets see if we can fool dad today! My husband always worrys that we got the wrong baby. But I know that she is mine I saw her after she was born and I know. She was in the NICU for a while and was always the one to be moved but I could have found her out of 100 babies if I had too. The older she gets the more I know she is mine, she is just like me LOL. He is just too funny about it though because he doesn't think that she looks like either of us when the case is that is a very good mix of the two of us. She has my eye color but his eye shape. I have dark brown almost black hair and he is blonde and she has lighter brown hair, she really split it all down the middle it seems. I think it just may be a dad thing.

Aww wow.. I'm sorry about the NICU situation. I've had a cousin experience something similar with her daughter for the first 8 months of her life in a McDonalds house where she could stay with her. I understand the father's concern... but I'm sure that deep down he truly knows that your princess is his and yours alike. Your daughter sounds like a mixture of me and my husband's princess. She is lighter skinned like her father where I am dark skinned... She has his hair color as well.. and even though her facial features are like that of his, his mom's and my mom's... she's every spit of me. She's shaped like me... down to the inner workings of her ears, her fingernails, her feet and toe shapes, her entire body shape. I love her more than everything and wouldn't trade her for the world... but I know that if there were a duplicate of her, I would definitely know the difference lol. Thanks for sharing!!

The same way you can't tell the difference from one politician and the next. If that is a problem then why does he dresses them in the same clothing then? Just because they are twin doesn't mean you should mold them out to be the same person. That only works so well until they gain a solid understanding of their identity and begins to form their own personality.

True in some ways... but if I had twins... I'd make sure that as a parent, if no one else could, I would be able to tell them apart. Thanks for sharing your views!!
