Are you good at what you do??

Whatever job or career you may be pursuing or working in, even if it isn't your life dream or something you really want to be doing, are you good at it?? Why or why not?? In my last position (Consultative Sales), I wasn't happy at all. It affected my performance over time especially as rates and sales began to drop and people were starting to get either fired or laid off. Now, I am pursing something that will truly make my life worth living. I don't want to be another one of those people who are always TGIF. I want to enjoy what I do and be the best at what I do. Some people dread their jobs, wishing that they had taken different paths in life. Who's to say it's too late? I was discussing with an older lady about the importance and requirement of education in today's job market and she labeled herself as "too old" to go to school. When I attended the local community college here as a dual-enrolled student in high school, there were people in their 50s in my class. Age shouldn't discourage anyone from doing what they want to do in life. Sometimes it isn't always about the money...

No. I have things that I do that I'm good at but in my work, I can't say that I the best cause I don't like my job. I don't have my heart in my job.

There are so many people out there like you, that don't necessarily "enjoy" their work. It just has to be done. I join you in that misfortune. But the power is in our hands to change it. Believe that. Thanks for commenting!!

Even though you may not like your current position, please please PLEASE (and I cannot stress this enough!!), DO NOT quit until you find another job. The job market is so fierce right now that everything is up for grabs. Continue to conduct your job search everyday and something better will come. Just be patient!! Thanks for sharing your experience!!

Yes I think I am good at what I do. I have always wanted to make soaps and candles and that is what I do. I study my soaps I make. I want my soaps to be good on peoples skin. Help find a great soap that helps peoples skin that have skin disorders. I studied Goat milk soap with Tea tree oil and its doing great. It gets rid of poison ivy, helps with Psoriasis and Eczema. I make many different candles with different scents. I love doing this. Its always what I wanted.

That is wonderful!! And it must be a great feeling to wake up every morning knowing that you're doing exactly what you set your heart and mind, too!! And for this, I say congratulations to you because you are really one of the few. Some people pursue certain careers based on how much salary is expected, rather than something that they are passionate about and could do everyday for the rest of their lives... that just has to be a great feeling... my dream is to become an Author... I hope that it will happen one day... Thanks for sharing!!

I have had several jobs, some of which I have liked, and some of which I have liked less, and I have been very good at them all, even the ones I hated. I think I am just a very ambitious person and I hate not being good at something. I wish I was less ambitious sometimes though, I know it sounds like a good thing, but it can be quite exhausting too!

I can definitely understand that. Putting your all into something could be quite tiring... but that's a good thing about you. I can't say I put my 100% into everything... especially if it doesn't interest me. Thanks for sharing your views!!

Starting from my last job i have been very happy with what i have been doing. That was the time i discovered a couple of books thet were at home since the last 20 years but i never saw it. Power of Positive Thinking and Power of Your Sunconscious Mind. these two books changed my life. And since then i have discovered satisfaction in my job. Somehow i have managed to perform well since then. bcos it changed the way i think and my attitute towards things.

I would like to check those books out. I read some book about the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Thinking or something of the sort... but it didn't really change how I thought about things. Do you happen to know the author's names?? Thanks for commenting!!
