I'm having hard times going to bed.

I work second shift, and i usually get back at the house right at midnight if not 1 am, even some times later. Soon as i get home, i feel like there is stuff to do, but im to tired to do anything. My mind is also constantly thinking about everything, about what i did that day, or what i'm going to do, what i need to do. I end up usually hitting the bed around 5am. No matter how hard I try, I can't seem to head to bed early. It's like I'm stuck in this pattern. And I would like to start going to bed earlier, so i can get up earlier, so I can do things before I go to work. Any one got any advice?

1- Take it easy Don't throw yourself into strenuous physical activity less than 3 hours before going to bed. Since exercising elevates your body temperature and arouses you, you'd have more trouble falling asleep. For the same reason, don't take a large heavy meal just before going to bed. 2- Avoid confrontations Spending time with your family or those you love during the last part of the day is wonderful. But avoid starting or fueling confrontational discussions. Half an hour before bedtime is not really the ideal time to start talking to your spouse about that big purchase you want to make, or to complain about something that bothers you. Hey, I know it's easier said than done :) but do try to keep this in mind the next time you want to start debating. 3- Bore yourself to sleep Likewise, it's really not a good idea to start surfing the internet or delve into an engrossing novel just before bedtime. Instead, tackle a boring task like doing paperwork or the dishes. You could also read a few pages of a difficult book or skim a work-related document. Choose something that will NOT leave you saying three hours later "gee, it's two o'clock already!" 4- Take a warm bath Taking a nice warm bath is an excellent way to dissolve tensions and leave the day behind. It has a paradoxical effect: the warm water rises your body temperature at first, but then later on makes it drop faster, easing your way into the night by making you feel sleepy. But don't take it just before going to bed for that same reason.

Hey u cam also finish your household after when u wake up from sleep. U need to be little more patient and don't put in so much stress regarding these things. Ask to ladies and married gal, they will tell you house hold work never finished. They have to stop doing.

In the past I had a job where I finished work around midnight and I often had the same problem as you. I was never able to go to bed straight away, I always had to spend some time on other things when I got home. I talked to my ex-boyfriend about it and he said that it was a normal reaction and that it was normal to spend some time thinking about the day and that your body need to relax a bit before you can sleep. I hadn't thought about it that way, but I think it makes sense. When I got home I always watched tv and read for a while and around 4 a.m. I went to bed.

The best thing is to go to bed, close your eyes and start counting sheep. I never reach 30, because I always end up in a deep sleep. Another good way to fall asleep is to put your hand in front of your mouth and direct your hot breath to your eyes. It will make you very sleepy and you will manage to fall asleep. Of course, you have to free your mind before.

I experience the same thing too. I'm having a hard time making myself sleep esp. when I'm stressed and loaded of things to do. My mind unconsciously and continuously thinking of the work load I need to work on. When those things happen. I first make myself feel more relax and comfortable. I ate chocolates and drink some cold fresh milk. Those two things makes me feel more stress-free. Then after that I'll read read books, surf in the net or listen to my favorite music and I would force myself not to think of my work load until I feel sleepy. (-.-)zzZZZ!!!

I have the same problem. I go to bed like around 11pm and don't fall asleep till 2am or 3am. Once i didn't even fall asleep the whole night. I always think about things and that keeps me from sleeping. Now though i'm starting to fall asleep sooner. I just read or listen to some good music and I try not to think about anything at all.
