hey there, have you ever experienced cases wherein your computer is already bogged down with lots of viruses? What happen to your pc? IS there a chance that you can no longer use that pc ever again and just have to purchase another? I really hate thinking bout bills on hiring a technician to do the work. and nobody wants to spend more on that too, but one just have to cautiously be aware of their computers and prevention is far more better.

i never experience such a case, my computer is filled by virus but i never give in to letting my computer filled with annoying virus. first step is,scan you computer with antivirus software that has been updated, if there a viruses that are still no detected by antivirus, please restart computer, run under DOS using Hiren's CD booting, check with that CD, because in the CD there are plenty of reliable antivirus program, hardware is essentially no computer that is damaged due to virus. don't waste you money to buy new computer. good luck.

I've never had too much difficulty with Viruses, malware now was more troublesome and sometimes more dangerous. The safest (though not necessarily the most efficient) was to rid ones self of these offensive interlopers is to reformat and start again. Of course now, I have been using Linux for ...3 or 4 years and have not been troubled since. So, if you ever get too fed up with all the Virii and malware associated with Windows and don't want to deal with the second mortgage that you need to get an Apple.....try Linux! There's enough flavors for everyone! ;)

If computer is full of viruses the PC will go so slow and later it will be paralyzed. You can't be productive with this kind of PC. The best thing is to have it re-programmed so it could be good as new.

hackers may steal your private data such as credit card number, passwords and etc. Just use an antivirus program, and you will be somewhat protected.

Well, your PC could be slow since viruses eat the processes of the operating system until data is exhausted. At this point, your computer may get stuck or jam and the only thing to do to overcome this is to reboot.I do some PC repairs and when some customers say that their PC is infected by viruses,I'll inspect the severity of the computer. If its less severe, installing an antivirus may be necessary. However,if there is nothing else that can be done,I'll just wipe the hard drive or even kill it if necessary.

There's a possibility that your files will be corrupted. or the screen will just turn to blue. That has happened to me and I was really freaking out that time because some important files were saved in my computer. I do have antivirus and I don't know why there are still viruses in my laptop.. errr. Well I think, we really have to purchase the original anti virus instead of having those we downloaded. what do you think? hehehe. good luck with your computer! :)

Hi meeksilent, Most minor viruses slow down your computer and others do annoying things like automated IM to your friends list when you get online and things like that, some files you won't be able to delete and it just makes us more irritated. Well, about the serious viruses, i don't really know much about it though, there is a virus that infects the bios and when that happens, the basic running system of the PC is rendered helpless. But chances of getting such viruses are quite low so there isn't really any case where you would need to buy a new computer itself. If that Bios viruses come to your computer, you could think about changing the motherboard only. An anti-virus is must for any computer. Good day.

hi ! Viruses are the last thing you want to have in your PC. They cause you too much trouble. I would suggest backing up clean data, formatting the entire Hard Disk and reinstalling. Buying a cheap but good Anti Virus should be a preventive measure.

I run may free scans every week, that keeps my computer clean. I usually don't have too much trouble with viruses since I make sure that I regularly scan my computer for them. I try not to reformat my computer, because that would take too long and I'd loose everything, and backing up stuff is a pain.

well that depends on the nature of the virus. there are some virus strains that eat up all of you're pc's idle time, in that case, you will not be able to use you pc doing something valuable and you have no choice but to reformat and install a fresh copy. if the virus is just trojans or worms, there are many antivirus programs out there that can help.if it is adwares, malwares, spywares or other internet related viruses, i also recommend software re-installation. this is critical because you're dealing w/ millions of users worlwide. but the best protection, as you have said is prevention. believe it or not, i don't use any antivirus programs on my personal laptop, so far, i'm not having any virus related problems. the key really is "responsible computing" and awareness, if you know what you're doing, no virus can harm you pc.

Its a worse situation to handle a virus affected pc. i've suffered a lot with my pc. that was a horrible situation. a type of virus named TRUELOVE affected my pc and it started to delete all supporting files of all my software and finally i was unable to change my properties too. but i didnt lead to any hardware problem. i lost most of my files due to it.i had no other option rather to format my pc.

its very simple dude, just take backup of all your important data files, note down the softwares installed and wipe out the drive. the best cure is to format the drive and create new partitions from scratch. now don't ask about antivirus softwares, web is full of them and you can easily get a decent antivirus. i have done this numerous times and all the process wont take more than 2 hours.

I have ever found computer could not start because there is many viruses infected. However, so far I know that viruses only attach software because virus itself is kind of software. Bad software that attack other software is called virus. If our computer is infected by viruses and no anti virus software could clean them all, you just need to format your hard drive and reinstall the operating system (OS) and others software. The risk is you lose your data in the drive that has been formatted. To avoid losing data after reinstall the OS, I suggest you to make partition on your hard drive in to at least two partition. Don't save your data in the same drive as your OS located. For example, if your OS installed on C:\ then save your data in D:\ so when you need to reinstall the OS, you need to format the C:\ drive only. Your data in drive D:\ won't be lose. Furthermore, viruses usually attack to drive where the OS located.

Viruses affect the software and not the hardware so formatting the hard drive will completely erase the virus and the computer then starts out like when you first bought it. Problem is you lose your files and programs that are not backed up when you format your hard drive. But really there is no other choice. Many computers come with a OS disk for this very problem. If not, one can find an operating system elsewhere maybe a friend or family member has one you can use. A technician will most likely over charge you on formating and installing an new operating system but the alternative you already know. After fixing the problem, back up your files aat least once a month so that you don't those files that are so important to you. And yes, prevention is the best alternative.

I get viruses all the time. It's almost inevitable, given the amount of time I spend online. You just need a really dependable anti-virus and anti-spyware, always backup your important files in a flash drive that's not always connected to your pc, always scan suspicious looking attachments before downloading, avoid downloading from sites that you know nothing about, and always make sure your anti-virus/anti-spyware is up-to-date. If after all that, you still get a virus, don't sweat it. Your pc is not a lost cause. Simply wipe everything clean and re-install and your pc is almost as good as new. At least, that's what I do :)
