Have you decided if you will be buried or cremated?

Hubby and I have decided to be cremated. First off, we have no life insurance to pay final costs. It seems totally crazy to burdon my children with thousnads of dollars just to put me in a box in a hole in the ground. Eremation is relatively inexpensive...about $700,and it's dome quickly. I don't need satin blankets and a brass trimmed box when I'm dead. I don't need anything. My hubby wants his ashes spread on a beach somewhere, so he can get into those girls bikinis one way or the other . I told my daughter to put me on her mantle so I can keep an eye on her We don't even want a Memorial Service...just an informal gathering someplace will do. I wouldn't be afraid to bet that, somewhere in the future, there will be no more burials. Everyone will have to be cremated for lack of burial space. So what is your choice? If you are cremated, where will your ashes be?

I have told all my friends and my husband that I want to be cremated and ashes thrown out into the sea or under a tree, whichever is friendlier to the environment. I don't want my family to have trouble thinking what to do with my body or where to keep the ashes.

Hi colorfulseafish, Nice to see your strong agreement here. I think you can start by telling them about it. Try to tell them a few times maybe when having some related conversation. That way they will get used to the idea and better able to accept when the time comes.

I stongly agree with you.as i like sea very much,i'd choose being cremated and then thrown out into the sea.but i wonder whether my family approve it or not.because in doing so,they would not have my body or ashes.however,i think being cremated saves lots of land and is environment-friendly.

I am just 23 going to 24, and I have thought about this. I thought about this a long time ago. And sometimes just feel abnormal to think about this kind of thing at my age. And this discussion brings me back to my thought. I want to be cremated when I die. Mm.. and no reason for that. Just want to be cremated. And, the simple reason that comes to my mind is, I don't want to be left on the graveyard alone. I want a place in my home. ^^ Simple, isn't it?

hi lacieice - I like your sense of humour on this rather serious topic. I guess it got to be cremation for me as it is cleaner and space saving. In my country, space is at a premium and even buying a niche for your ashes to be placed in runs into thousands if not hundreds. In the final analysis, it is leaving a more enduring legacy that matters I guess.
