Why live forever?

Hi myLoters, in this post i would like to discuss with you one of men's greatest ambitions since for ever, i am pretty sure that since infants, basically since you have realized that you wouldn't be hanging around in this earth forever, when you noticed that this was just a short ride that could end at any moment, either by aging, accident etc... I strongly believe that each and everyone of you at least one time in your lives had thought about what it would be like to live forever, some even dream about it, to avoid death has been something that men have attempted to find a solution to but never actually got one till today. I myself when a child dreamed with eternal life, the thought of being in this world for ever was simply fascinating, specially if I'd remain young forever. Now, as an adult (at least legally) i have a completely view of the world specially in this particular matter, now i would actually do anything to not live forever, because in a lifetime you go through so much, some more than others, imagine how it would be if you'd have to remain in this world forever, constantly watching the people you love die. Now you might be thinking "It's simple, what if everyone in the world had eternal life? than the problem would be solved." No, the problem would not be solved it would even make things worst because important choices would have to be made, such as: We all continue living happily doing whatever we feel like doing and reproducing until the world just floods with people, or the women would have to be all castrated so that they wouldn't be able to have kids again, because contraception wouldn't do it, eventually desperate women from all over the world would want a child and would give birth to it, and since it couldn't be killed there would be nothing anyone could do about it and eventually the would would be full. I think the worst part about living forever would be never being able to rest, to just put an end to your life, we would eventually get tired of living, so what is your take on this discussion? Do you want to live forever? if so why? and if not why?

Don't worry your English is perfectly understandable, you have some small mistakes here and there, but then again who doesn't? Even North Americans and English people commit certain mistakes, i like what you you want to do with your life, because i want to do it to even though I've lost hope

I believe in the teachings of my religion, where life in this workd is only temporary. Life in the hereafter is everlasting, where we can do and have almost everything, including the ones we never had while on earth. Lets put religion aside. Even if I want to live forever, the goal will never be reached. The universe that we see has been expanding at a fast rate. It will never expand to infinity because the energy will decrease, leading to a collapse of the universe. The end of everything. If I want to live a long life it will be to 1) fulfill my dreams 2) share my knowledge and experiences 3) see how far mankind will advance in everything.

That is my greatest curiosity, the reason why i would like to be here when the world ends because i don't exactly know for sure how it started, no one can e sure of anything but i would like to know how it ends.

One of the things anyone still living at that time are the stars falling down. The equilibrium that holds the universe together falls apart. There will be earthquake. The theory or assumption may not be totally accurate.

Hi zemma! I agree that immortality is man's greatest dream. The biggest joy would come from being healthy to be able to enjoy life and to enjoy the company of loved ones and to be able to live meaningful lives with families and communities. The experience and wisdom that come with age is also appreciated in return.

Yes I do have the desire to live forever. The reason is I don't want to die. There are too many things I can do, I would never grow bored of life. There are plenty of books to read, movies to see, shows to watch, and then of course there are many things I could create as well since I have an interest in writing I would have plenty of time to perfect my writing skills. Finally, if everyone lived forever, technology would probably increase at such a rate (because the great thinkers would not be dying) that over population would not be an issue since we would probably create the ability to travel to and colonize other planets.

Great response, completely forgot about the technological development, but still i think there would be a time where you would be so tired of suffering that you would end up trying to give up life and you would feel frustrated because you wouldn't be able to do anything eventually you would probably be senile or your brain would be so overloaded with information you would end up in a coma or something and live forever afterwards like a vegetable
