Did PAL really mistreats its employees which resulted in this mass protest. Workers of PAL are resigning for a no clear reasons. What's the story behind? If this won't be fixed, then more flights will be canceled, poor passengers, their the one affected.

They cry security of tenure. This is what most employees wants. If you are not secured you can be layed off anytime without warning. If you are an employee you would not want that. PAL should treat their people better. Its seems that there is an exodus of the pilots and will be migrating to other airlines with better offers. They should UP their retention plans and ensure that they can keep servicing the riding public.

so your saying that this people are protesting about their retention rate? I think PAL violated a certain law in labor code regarding this matter but in the other hand any company that has the possibility of getting bankrupt has the right to laid off his manpower. In this certain point the PAL management and the protesters only had a misunderstanding regarding in certain rules.

I don't think PAL has violated any laws either. Most of the staff in PAL are contractuals. That is what they are crying out. People need regular jobs. Not just contracts that you can renew over and over again.

Poor pilots. you know, some of them are actually from the Air force, they leave the military or the AP because of poor salary, maintenance, or even treatment. and now, they face this with PAL. this is really happening. services there too are deteriorating. few years ago, my auntie tells me some staff still serve free towels, all changed few years later and then they begged for few coins and dollars

In the air force they have only limited numbers of airplanes to fly. Most likely they were just doing flying lesson on the ground. At least for a moment these pilots had an experience to fly real planes thank for PAL. But thanks for PAL their experience won't last long.

I agree with the above posts and I've heard of this in the news just recently. Security of tenure is really important when you are working and this is what they are fighting for. Since PAL doesn't want to give this to their employees, instead of protesting which is just a waste of time and energy, employees just resign and switch to other companies. I guess the employees' mistake is not following the proper way of resigning which is stipulated in their contracts.

Well I guess if you do not give what is theirs then I think there is really a possibility that they would be transferring to other countries because I think there is a high demand for pilots these days abroad and they could easily do that if they want. I guess PAL can only hold on to them in the way they resigned which was inappropriate since they didn't wait for the letter either to be approved and all the necessary process needs to be done before they are released. Now PAL is trying the legal means to stop them from getting away with it. I think it should be investigated no matter the airline is a private company. It is our national carrier and our name is carried by that plane all over the world. It is but a shame that the problem will put our country down once again.

Based on hearsay and comments from previous PAL employees and retired already, I can only confirmed it if I was one of them. Everyone has the right to express their sentiments or grievances on any given company. We live in a democracy so we are free to express our rights to anyone. Let's wait the side of the PAL management regarding these issues and from there the public can make their decisions. For now, let's just hope that this matter be resolved as soon as possible. Every family depends on every single centavo. We can't directly blame the exodus of pilots. Family comes first before loyalty to a company is what I see here. All disputes can be resolved peacefully as long as both parties involved are willing to shed off their pride and make sacrifice for a little bit. Let all facts and evidences be made known to the public regarding these matter.

If the pilots think that PAL is not treating them well then by all means leave the company. However they have to realize that they have contracts to follow. The best thing for them to do is follow what's written on their contract and look for jobs somewhere else as soon as it expires. Resigning all at once only show that those guys don't have plans of leaving instead they're just making a scene and making a hostage out of PAL at the public's expense.

There have been several disputes between PAL and its employees over the years. I think its inevitable for this kind of issue to rise for a company as big as PAL. The news that I've heard was only from the side the employee via news headline. The company is yet to give its side of the story. Let's wait and see. I think this wouldn't take long to be resolved as P-Noy already asked NLRC to step in.

I think the employees of PAL is just asking for a raise. And for PAL not allowing them to leave? that would be unjust. People have the right to choose which job they will fit into.
