Any Associated Content And/Or Helium Members Out There?

OK......just a quick question...... I'm beginning my journey into the world of freelance writing, and I've been looking at AC and Helium as good jumping off sites. But I'd also like to start my own blog where I can keep my thoughts, articles, and stories. If I write a piece on my blog, can I post this same work on AC or Helium? Or would they consider this self plagiarism? What about the other way around......If I post on AC or Helium, could I then post the same thing on my blog AFTER? Can you post the same thing on AC AND Helium? .....Just wondering.......like I said, I'm just starting out and I don't want to make any mistakes...........I'd sure hate to get blackballed before I even start.

You can technically. Helium likes you to post them first and then use a link back or copy and paste the first few paragraphs and provide a link back for the rest. It doesn't really matter though since Helium is strictly non-exclusive (except for the marketplace submissions at least until they transition). AC is a little different. You would probably want to choose the display only content option (3) since they are unlikely to pay upfront for already published items unless they are in very hot topics. (Option 2) (Helium pay is higher than the lower clout levels on AC.) But do not try to reuse anything that you have submitted under Option 1, the upfront and exclusive rights choice. It will be seen as plagiarism. Yes, you can plagiarize yourself. Yes, you can post duplicate articles on both AC and Helium. The only thing to point out is that the search engines don't necessarily like you doing this.

Thank you for that correction. You do have to submit for upfront payment first than you can post elsewhere.

Actually, some of Sierras info is incorrect. AC does not accept anything previously published, for upfront payment. If it's already been published somewhere else, you have to submit it as Display Only. Even then, your username has to be exactly the same on both.

I do write for Associated Content and I love it. I think that you have to post the article to AC before you post it on your blog. I also have a blog but I rarely ever post the same things on there as I know some of the people on AC also read my blog.

I am a member of Helium and I'm sure that duplicate articles are not allowed. They are very strict on plagiarism and although what you are proposing is not plagiarism, it is copying, even it it is your own work. However, I don't know whether you are allowed to put articles on your own blog after you have published it on Helium. I've always found the administrators extremely helpful. Drop them a line and ask.

Thanks for the info. I'll just have to go through all the terms and FAQs.

Loise, Helium does allow duplicate articles. I've posted some there that I previously posted on other sites, and my own website, which is now no longer in production. They are getting very hot on grammar, fact checking, first person articles, and articles that go off topic. That's good in my book, because it keeps the standards up.

I don't know about the site AC but you can post articles on Helium that you have posted elsewhere,I think all you need to do is mention in your profile that you post on other sites.

I write in Helium and have for the past three months. I find it to be a very good site with a high standard, which I like. The more you write, the more you will earn. Actually I have posted articles on Helium and on Bukisa but I was not sure that it is actually allowed, even though I could not find anything in their rules about it. Thanks for this information guys.

I think you can still post it in Helium provided when you let Helium knows that work or the blog belongs to you. Helium has always been a good earning site, but the tolerance for grammatical errors has became very low nowadays. I have got a lot of articles being deleted already and have not had the time to review and re-publish them. For AC there is a major change. You need to be a featured writer in order to earn if you stays outside US. Cheers.

On Triond, you have to publish first the article with them and then you can publish anywhere.

I write on Helium, I haven't reached payout yet but I'm happy that people will get to read my articles. I enjoy writing, and while I am there to make a little extra money, exposure as a writer is also nice too.

I'm on AC - just joined about a month ago. I've only posted two articles and a poem so far, but I hope to do a lot more soon. If you write for AC, then you have a choice with each thing you write between writing exclusively for AC or not. That means that you can write an article that you certify is published nowhere else and agree to keep it that way. This kind of writing will potentially get you more exposure since AC will then use your article to post it to affiliate sites themselves. But you can also post your material on AC that has already been posted on other sites. However, AC won't publish that material with its affiliates, so your potential earnings from it will rely solely on the number of page views it gets on AC alone. You can also accept writing assignments that AC offers. But these are usually limited. In any case, you can find me at AC here: http://www.associatedcontent.com/user/819806/gary_d_timothy.html or http://www.associatedcontent.com/garydtimothy
