What do you do when you are mocked because you believe in God?

Nowadays more and more people choose to be nonbeliever, or atheists, how they call themselves. In my opinion they do believe, just don't want to admit. But these kind of people usually mock people who believe in God. Have you ever been in that position? If yes, how did you react? If not, have would you react? What is your opinion? If you are a nonbeliever, than what is your opinion? have you ever mocked believers? Or do you let everybody believe what he wants? Please share...

Wow, you are so disrespectful of Atheists that you don't do them the simple courtesy of trusting that they are accurately relating their beliefs and you're complaining that someone might mock you? Look to the beam in your eye, my friend!

Why do you tell me that I am disrespectful? I haven't accused anybody and I haven't complained about anything. I just shared an opinion and talked about a hypothetical situation, I was not complaining. If you felt insulted, that means that something caught your attention or you have been in a situation like this.

I tell you that you are disrespectful because saying that people don't actually believe what they tell you they believe is in fact disrespectful. Contrary to your claim, you are accusing them of lying. I cannot feel insulted by it, as I am not an Athiest. I can, however, not it for what it is and gently rebuke you for it.

I am a believer. Those who do not believe in GOD are non-believers and what we call "atheists." Be strong on your faith in GOD and you will never go in vain. The good one must succeed! Just continue to do what is right in the eyes of GOD for He will never leave you when you are mocked or in times of troubles... Stand on you faith and just believe!!!

I don't believe in the Christian God but I believe in a God and Goddess. I have been harassed severely for not being a Christian as I grew up in the South in the US where just about everybody believes in God. I don't mock anyone for their religion, I believe each religion is as good as another and their mythos is as believable as the next. I know someone who is about every religion imaginable. But I only know one atheist and he is a considerate person and I can't see him mocking anyone for their religion and in fact he is dating a Catholic. I have gotten a few strange looks for my religion, everyone seems to think that if you are a pagan you are some kind of new age whacked out hippy which I am not, I am in fact quite conservative on some issues.

How would it make sense that atheists believe but won't admit it? They're not idiots. Most atheists were religious at some point, so they know the supposed consequences of rejecting the notion of god. Why would anyone risk that if they thought that there was at all a chance that it could be true? As for atheists mocking believers, I've never really seen that happen. Many atheists do try to point out the inherent contradictions of religious doctrine and belief in god if religious discussion comes up. Of course, this cannot be considered mocking. The world would be a much more peaceful, happy place without religion, and most atheists recognize that.

I encountered a lot of skeptics and atheists and questioned me why I believe in God. What I did was that I explained to them not according to my faith but using many scientific explanation regarding the existence of God. I can understand their way of thinking. They wanted to have facts. So I also used facts so that there will be know harsh debates. So I was able to convince one atheist because I used science. In the end, we became friends.

Hello! First of all I should say that i am spiritual person and believe in God but I do not believe in a Christian God. Believing in a so called God that is SEPARATED from us, loves us but if we do something bad will send us to hell is ignorance...for me God is the moment when we trully live...smiling just to wake up after a good night sleep, making love with a beautifull women, eating chocolate etc. I do not judge you for believing in God but I have a question for you...Have you ever read the bible? Do you have strong arguments to convince me to believe in your God? if not...then you deserve to be mocked my friend because having an ideea without having strong arguments is just another reason to be mocked and in our society you are classified as a "stupid person"...sometimes everybody needs a "slap on the neck" becuase it opens our eyes...literally also. If you are 100% convinced in your religion then you should have no problem with non-believers and their mocking because they are the stupid ones who will go to hell for not opening to the Lord.

I don't think that I need to convince you of nothing. I don't need material proofs for me to believe in God. I am just convinced that He exists, because of my experiences I have had. I don't want to convert nobody to nothing, but I feel disrespectful when somebody mocks others just because believe in God.

Herro rappeter13 I have never been mocked for my belief in God by an atheist. There are some atheists here at mylot. They do not mock me, they challenge my beliefs, and that is great. We talk back and forth. I believe that every member has the right to worship or not worship as they wish. Our US constitution guarantees that right. I may challenge their beliefs and I may witness to them. Mocking is not appropriate and gains nothing. I cannot remember being mocked. If I were, that is their problem. I would turn the issue over to God. God takes care of physically and emotionally. The member who gave a list of our responsibilities is correct. Not only are Christians supposed to accept Jesus, we are required to behave in the guidelines set forth in the Bible. When we take care of those responsibilities we receive fruits of the spirit. Prosperous mylotting

there have been occasions where i have been told that i am dilusional/stupid/uneducated/a dreamer/ mis informed/optimist/away with the fairies and down right insane., to have a belief in a God that the other person didnt believe in. in response., i did not give back to the person who landed me with these negative titles the same abuse/mockery/disdain. i remained quiet, and thought that whilst some one can be shouting and aggresive or just down right rude., in a discussion or like a written discussion on my lot., that there is no point to answering as they would not hear/see what i was saying or writing... they have only room for their own opinion only room for their ideas., and some see an opposing view point as threatening in some way and i do not wish to make any one feel threatened by word or deed.. I have also had occasion when younger to be mocked and teased by others who where "christian" but of another denomination so to think that some one who does not believe in God, is the only source of mockery i think is also too generalised and an insult to those who are happy not to believe. And find that many christians, beliving they are right., can not accept that others can and do have differing opinions and are allowed that freedom of choice... I have found that more put downs/mockeries have come from former christians or those where christianity has been forced upon them than from those who do not believe in the Chrisian God I am a person of faith/spiritual and believe in the teachings of the Bible old and new testements., which does not exclude others who are not beliving the same as myself but to show my faith through the way i conduct my behaviour and my approach to them., showing love compassion and understanding.... the classic parable of the Good samaritan surely shows this... At the end of the Day., i am accountable for my actions/words,. and believing in God Jesus The Holy Spirit is a way of living., not just a way of saying you live., and therefore those who choose to believe in other paths or indeed no faith path are respected in my view... Why should i tell some one they must do this or that., is that not the same as some one telling me i shouldnt or am stupid to do so ??? Respect for individuals, compassion for all are what i read as the teachings i follw., so no., I do not mock any one for not believing as i do., best wishes x

If someone mocks at me, i will smile at them and tell, "Lord forgive them, they do not know what they are doing". I wont say anything to them. If i believe in GOD i know that half my problems are shared by someone. And theose who mock at me...are mocking at their own downfall.

well I am a nonbeliever but I never had mocked those who believe in their Gods and their religious practices. To be honest I was born in a very religious family and went to schools that are being run by priests. I know more about catholicism than a common believer but their ways and teachings was just not enough for me to be accept them. Those people mocking you are most likely people who are at some time were dissapointed in their faith thats why they are being jerks. This is just my opinion thou I cannot speak for them and for other nonbelievers, but as far as I know you have to be well learned about something to be able to dismiss them as not true. That is why most nonbeliever or atheists as you call them are very intelligent and has no intentions of tuning someone off their faith. It might sound arrogant but that is the reality for me. We are few and usually surprised to learn or meet someone with the same point of views in this things, that is why we keep this opinion to ourselves most of the time thus making mocking others out of the question.

If someone mocked me because of that I would just leave them alone.I would have to let them believe what they want as I dont think teaching about God should be forced on people.I've seen ppl do that and welll it usually doesnt end up so good and has the opposite effect.

I simply tell them to look around. Then ask, "How could there be no God?". Most of them would just answer me with a sarcastic laugh or look, I guess avoiding the topic. Hence, they are unable to explain themselves from NOT believing. I think it's PRIDE. Most people do not believe because they are so much into themselves. They feel superior at almost anything. Or they consider themselves as their own God. And that's horrible, man.

I simply ask them: Why do you think you are alive? Most of the time, they shrug with one liner answer and change the topic. I respect their side, I pray for them.

You feel sorry for them. Religion and beliefs give people hope and someone without hope is a shame.
