HOLE IN THE "WALL",Rahul Dravid failing once again in the series.

No doubt that Dravid is technically one of the best test players in the world cricket. But I think he is not performing well.In the present series he could not make even a single half century. On the dead track in SSC where batsmen scored tons of runs, also he failed. Now why not drop him(anyhow he is not in the one days and T20 format)and give chance someone like pujara or Rohith Sharma who some day will have to come to the test team. Also there is a danger that Dravid,Laxman,Sachin if retire in quick succession, the test team will be entirely new and a phase may come where the batting will become as weak as the bowling. Now Australia is facing such a phase after Mcgrath,Shane warne, gilly retired from the tests. But his catching form is being good!! So as a whole I mean to say "GOOD BYE DRAVID FROM TESTS"(ALSO).

ya, time has reached for dravid to say goodbye. me too thinks so. but he should be given some chance to make his retirement, not by avoiding him from the team selection, because he has been the part of the team for a very long period. and served india very well. he deserves a good sent off.

I think he should retire himself now, before the team drops him.i agree to the point that he served India very well and he needs a good send off.But he could get a good send off in the ODIs.because he did no0t declare it at the right time. All good things should come to an end some day.Murali has still the ability to bowl, but why did he retire?Because he wanted to finish the career when in good form and getting respect from everybody.

Ya,I think its now the time to say good bye. Dravid is a good player, but i feels that now the time for dravid has reached to say good bye from test cricket also. he was a total failure in this whole test series. it was not the dravid we know from the past. now its the time to give chance for some new young talented player. but dravids position is a very special one for indian team and it should be only given to someone who is talentand stamina to play as good as dravid. but he should be give a one more test series, probably the series coming against australia in home, to say good bye from indian cricket.

Rohith Sharma or Pujara will be the substitute for Dravid I believe. Also I do not want Rahul dravid to play in Australia series because if he fails then the team may lose the rank one.

but its not fair to take away a good player by not giving him chance to make his retirement. he will play very well in indian pitches, i think he should be given chance to get retired by playing in test series against australia. and rohit sharma or virat kholi i think as the replacement for him.

I completely agree with you Bhaskar015.Rahul Dravid should retire and give the youngster a chance to play. So should VVS Laxman their days are over for good. look at Raina he has done so well when he was given a chance to play in place of yuvraj. No players place in the indian team should be fixed. If they dont perform drop them from the team and give youngster a chance , let them learn. And they will give you results. The problem is once a player plays well for a series or two he becomes fixed and then they say ok i have got a fixed place in the team so i wont try really hard and so they tend to loose the form and the end result india losses.

If they are not performing anybody should be dropped. Here there is no point of senior or junior.I agree to that point. But to do so the bench should be strong enough.the youngsters should show their caliber when ever a chance comes.Just like Raina did.

Hi Bhaskar! 3:4, 136:0, 66:8, 83:62, 35:60, 177:38, 144:-, 74:-, 4:24, 111(retired hurt):DNB Before this series Rahul's scores for last 10 test are like this. It is common that everyone will have one or two bad series or get out of form. Rahul is having such a phase. I don't think he really is having any HOLE in his Defensive WALL or anything like that. He had such poor series even when he was younger. Now he being older and near to retirement we tend to judge and ask for retirement. If he cannot score obviously he will retire. Happy Mylotting!

I think it would be risk to give him another chance.Because the opposition is a stronger one and if he fails again the rank one may be lost.

If we see last 10 tests of dravid , many time he is getting out in an unfortunate manner now, too many times.Feel sorry for him , he was looking good in first test until he got run out and after that he has been consistently short of runs.Dont think he is playing much of domestic cricket and he is out of one dayers already, i mean he is short of match practice and his reflexes are not like before.Position of dravid is very important one that is third position , probably the most important in test team, but i think if thats the case he should get a grand goodbye like murali got because he is such a great player for india, probably one of the greatest of all times.Though i am not sure he will be shown the way out like in one dayers, because he is too good in this format and he will be needed in tour of SA where indians will be tested with short balls.Anyways whatever happens rahul dravid is a superb cricketer and most useful batsman who saved and won matches for india for last ten years.Simply brilliant.

The thing is at the moment india dont have a replacement for him. So, even if he doent performs well, he can continue to play for the time india finds a new talent. For now, even ganguly's position is not being filled by a permanet player, what to say for dravid!

I agree that the wall is crumbling. Unfortunately I am not sure who is there to step up to plate. Rohit Sharma and Yuvraj have blown the chances given to them. Raina looks to be cementing one of the middle order spots that has been vacated by Ganguly. Now we need to look at Rahul's long term replacement. I think we need to bring Pujara into the scheme of national things to see how he can fare at this level. Cheers! Ram

Dravid current form may suggest axing from test. But Dravid scores in srilanka is always average. when it comes to other pitches like pacy one he gonna stand strong. Hope he his rhythm quick.

Rahul Dravid has been the finest cricketer india have ever produced, he has served indian cricket a lot. But i think that we dont have that players like pujara or rohit sharma can replace dravid as a no.3 in the batting order, they are not experienced enough to play in test cricket. Yes i agree that rahul dravid is not able to perform up to his own standards but atleast in the last few series he has built partnerships to save matches for us. We still need dravid if want to perform outside subcontinent, removing dravid from no.3 position will put a lot of pressure on sachin as our openers are unreliable to play responsible innings. Meanwhile give experience to players like badrinath(specially),rohit sharma, virat kohli, pujara in one dayers, so that they can be able to replace our middle-order in years to come.

Unlucky, in my opinion for Dravid, the day he was gonna perform, wasted! Though he should have defended the stumps more, when playing a shot like that The way he walked off shows that it is the end for him in tests, just not fit enough I guess!!!

dravid is a good player but now he has lost his charm and concentration towards cricket
