Do you set reading goals?

I have an interesting routine for my days. Six months ago I was laid off from my job and I decided right away that idle time was not going to be a good thing...so I make a list everyday. I usually plan more than I can probably accomplish. The list is pretty lengthy with job search activities, chores around the house, bills and budgeting, reading, and journaling...and a little time to make a dollar or two online. My reading goals are pretty simple...each day this past week I have tried to read: 6 chapters or more from my Bible read from "The Sacred Romance" (some is pretty heavy, so I might only read a few pages...if the discussion is light, I'll read more) Read from "The Automatic Millionaire" (Almost finished with this one...usually read several pages a day). Sometimes I'll read from one book in the morning, and the others througout the day...other times I read for an hour or so straight and move on to other things on my list. What about you? Do you have goals or a reading plan...or regimine that you try to follow?

I don't have a reading schedule per se. I have kicks where I just love to read and you can't pry a book out of my fingers, and then there are times that I can put a book down and not read it for awhile. I also read online at a site called fictionpress.com, it's a site for writer's and readers alike. Sometimes if it's a good book I'll find myself reading it until it's finished (sometimes in one day!), though I've not done that in quite awhile.

I haven't made any reading goal, personally i would like to set reading goals, however,i dont think i can insist on if i have a reading schedule, for it may be upset by something inevitable and unexpected.I often read magazines during my spare time before, now i spend more time on the internet, still i have formed a habit of reading novels before go to sleep recently,{and this helps sleep].Anyway,a good book is a real friend,it can bring me too much inspiration and teaches me somehow, makes me more mature in mind while thinking of things and coping with problems.Dare to say, even a good book may alter one's life.of course ,all changes depend on one's attitude.Keep it up,dear friend.

I've done that too...a book in a day! That's quite awhile for me tho'...back when I was reading novels...which I don't do anymore. I love to learn something in the process, to dive into something that makes me think, or to be inspried by something that makes me flex my creativity muscles.

I usually read 2-3books per week. One novel, one self-help books, and one magazine or something light to read. Sometimes, my goals are interrupted by inevitable incindents like going home late or working some stuffs. So my reading time is the first thing that is out of my priority list. But as much as possible I follow my reading goals.

Personally I just try to read as much as I can whenever I can. I like finishing all the books I have in my to-read stack and going out to find more. This year I have a goal to read 100 books. So far I've read 72, but I've really slowed down over the past few weeks because I've been so busy with school lately.

I'm quite the reader, but won't get to 72 :) Good job...you should be one pace even if you slow up a bit.

I really like the structure of what I have planned now, but I can appreciate that priorities shift and I am looking some of those same types of shifts taking place in my life. There's only so much time in a day to work with :)

I always try to pick up the book I am currently reading before the day ends, usually before I go to bed. I wish I can read faster but I can't. I have tons of unread books still, and I am hoping I can finish all of them before the year ends. I put on hold playing Facebook games (which I was an addict) so that I can finish reading all my books.

Thanks for this interesting post. I too am out of work at the moment and feel the days slip by all too easily. Especially when I am looking for job opportunities. I love reading too. I think it will be a good discipline to read for a set amount each day and more than this to make a plan. Good luck with your job search.
