i have this friend of mine, way back in high school, who i envy the most because he can play the guitar effortlessly, according to him, when he listen to a music on a radio, he can remember the tune and apply it to his guitar and then he can get the melody and chords right there and then, compared to mine, i should have to get the songbook first (of course with chords on it) for me to be able to play it. so i am wondering, is playing intruments acquired through constant practice or is it a natural talent?

I believe you can become a competent musician through practice whether you're gifted or not, but I also believe that only the truly gifted can play with emotion. Those who are not gifted play mechanically.

A little of both. You need practice to get the basic skills needed. Some people take to it more quickly than others. That's talent. My cousin has perfect pitch and rarely has to practice after learning the basics of an instrument.

Playing instrument makes perfect when you always do some practice with your talent. This things i know needs to be together because if you don't have a talent on playing any instrument you cannot enjoy it. As you can only fulfill it just you know how to play and strum a guitar for example. Just to make yourself in or belong to the world of music. As I know music is life as it has the melody and soul. Once you do it with heart and soul it will have a very good and sweet result when playing. Nice and lovely music from your instrument.

There are people who are really gifted just like your friend. But there are people who acquired through practice. And If we combine this together then the person can be a composer! In our family, all of us know how to play the guitar, we can sing and we know if the group is out of tune. It started with our eldest down to me because I'm the youngest and we're seven. Practice is the best even we're not good before in playing the guitar.

Talent is a gift, and some people are really gifted to have some talents. My daughter also had this widow when it comes to playing various musical instruments. She can play the piano, flute and sax without having professional help. It started when she's around 4 years old and i bought her a small xylophone. Then,i discovered that she had this passion for music. The can play the simple nursery rhyme without looking any notes. Then later, she asks me to buy her a piano, and same thing, she can play songs without any notes as script. Her passion with music goes on,and she tried with the flute and sax,and she excels with that instrument. But,if someone really has the passion with music,it can be acquired thru learning and study. It just need patience and interests to have someone learn how to play musical instruments. And you can try that too.

I think it could be both. I know I can learn instruments very easy, that would be why I play flute, violin, guitar and piano. My sister cannot just pick one up and figure it out yet through practice she plays guitar, flute and drums as well as I can. Now on the flip side she can sing awesomely I cannot no matter how many lessons I take.

Playing an instrument is not the same for everyone. Some people just seem to have a natural born talent to play. It comes effortlessly to them. Others will spend many hours practicing of blood, sweat ant tears to get the same results. I believe that some talent born inside you has to be the spark that motivates your playing. If you don't have that talent, the road to musical achievement can be a bit longer.

A talent of a person is really innate within himself, It is just being enhanced by constant practice. So with the case of your friend, it is really within himself that the chords of the music lingered inside his head and the execution of playing it with the guitar is just carried on by constant practice if he already mastered the notes and chords of the music itself.

of course, the playing instruments can be acquired by constant practice only. this practice may be self practice or through a master or expert in the kind of instrument . talent which you are refering is to be utilised to catch the playing of the instrument at the earliest time . that is your talent is the best teacher to mobilise your knowledge which you are acquiring through master or through song book . there fore constant practice only will put one in best and tiop condition in playing an instrument . i may also like to say here please that not only playing instrument everything in life is only due to constant and regular practice only

What we learn is acquired though we may not be aware of how we acquire it and therefore we label it as natural. But you have to learn to manipulate the musical instruments first before you can produce a string of tones or a melody. This coupled with the determination to produce the song in your instrument. Doing so requires patience and dedication to achieve your goal of playing your song. I don't believe it is natural otherwise there will only be a handful of musicins.

I think everything requires learning and practice. It just comes down to how quickly we learn things and how passionate we are about something. Also, we have our own strengths and weaknesses on the different niches we may encounter. You may be strong at other things and he may be weak at some, too. No two individuals are the same. All are unique. So you just need to find the thing you're good at. You don't have to mind about the rest. :)

I really love to play a guitar but the problem is I don't know how to play a guitar. As of now, I studied the lesson on how to play a guitar. Unfortunately, my husband know how to play in this instrument. Basically, he teaches me to play this instrument. That's why, my love of my husband is always growing. And I know that, that is a natural talent of my beloved husband.

For playing instruments talent is most important and that talent comes with lots of effort and constant practice. So i feel both of these are required if you want to play instrument in a good way. Your friend might have practiced the instruments from long times and aquired the talent to grasp easily and play it.
