Is it going too fast?

I find that life in general is going by way too fast. Kids are already about to go back to school, summer vacations already over. You buy Windows XP and soon after they come up with Vista and right after Win7 and now already they talk about Win8 !!!! Same for clothes, you buy a certain color and about 3 months after, that color is out and in with a new one. Buy a DVD player and soon its outdated, you need to buy blue ray and now its 3D. I feel like a dog sometimes running after my own tail. (not that I have one lol) Do you find that its going too fast or do you enjoy the way things speed by? What is it you wish would slow down a little?

I have nothing against new technology. I didnt have a computer when I was a kid and I wish I had in some ways. The thing is that many kids today are not happy and stressed out because they can NOT afford all this new ever changing technology. Thats the real problem here. The lack of money to get it all. We have young kids here having breakdowns because of this. I know there are some great minds out there and they'll accomplish great achievements but will they be able to afford it all? Thanks!!

Hi, Magical! I'm not sure things are moving too quickly. I think it's more likely that my budget and I are moving much too slowly!

As far as computers id say Mac all the way!! pcs are just horrible they never last and always get outdated every year mac is the best lol but I do agree with the rest of your discussion because if you look at the outside world you see a bunch of the same old stuff with a face lift it 2010 and for the last decade ive seen very few remarkable new products or inventions most the stuff you see is the same old thing with a new color or new feature. as a society i dont think we've made any progess i look back at all the generations before us and each one was unique in its own way all the way down to how people dressed the 60s,70s,and even 80's were all cool but after the 90's i think advancements in this world have slowed down a lot but people as a whole have just become a lot more self centered and obnoxious, it seems like no one cares about the state of the world these days everyone here lives like they dont have to do anything that change will just come to them i think greed will be the downfall of us all. To me its hurtful to even think that theres a war going on because most people are living to ignore it does anyone actually see that's its wrong that Americans are dying over oil and democracy? where on the other hand our country is falling apart i think people should learn to come together because i see a better place than this i think America could be so much better than it is if we all worked together to make the country it really could be independence is a thing of the past we are all bound by these personal possessions and dreams of fame that no one seems to care about anything else i personally would be happy living on an island all by myself cause the society around me is pathetic if these are the future leaders of America then im gonna be out before these idiots end up bombing themselves :-P

You wrote what Im thinking about. If you check out another of my discussion, Im trying to find a peaceful place to live. Ive had it with the corruption and the violence. I hate that my country is also at war. We never used to fight before but I think the US twisted our arm to join in the fight .......Just so you know, Im against ALL wars!! If ever you find an island, dont tell anyone, they'll take it away from you and sell it to make more money. Yes greed will be our downfall. Have a nice day and good luck in finding your garden of eden !!

This is the life,we busy everyday, sometimes I don't know why i so busy. Now,we sound-bites,can't be eliminated with the rhythm,we are so tightly. Just said like you ,sometimes we just like a dog,a dog only know around. I hope I can slow down the pace of life, but I can't,you can?

No Im afraid I can NOT slow it all down. I try to, I try to just shut out the world and think of the moment, but it works only for a moment.....then its back to the race and think of how I can pay my bills!! Hope you can find a way to slow down your pace of life!! Thank you!

I'm only 25 and i can say - yes, life is going too fast and everything change all the time. I don't want it to change that way, because we don't have enough time to know ourself and each other that way ... we don't have enough time to keep the rhythm of the time, to know the new things better and to like them. We always accept, because we need the new things... I don't want out life to be like flash. Full with stress, problems, bills, work ... but do we have other chance?

Im older than you and I remember when I was your age very fondly, it was the best time of my life as far as having fun was concerned. Im sorry that you kids today have to go through this. I can only hope that because you were born in this era of new technology coming out every minute or so that you'd be used to it or that you could find ways to handle it. But we're only humans and we can only react this way. I do hope you find a way to not stress out so much. I know its easier said than done. I cant get rid of my stress sometimes and then I try to tell myself that its not that bad. I try to think of the worse thing that can happen and gauge whatever is happening in my life at the time by it. Sometimes it helps but other times, it doesnt at all. Maybe the kids of today could find a way to make it slow down. You have your chance to change the world. Have a go at it, gather your friends, try to change the world. Make it a better place for all of us. Thanks !!

I'm of two minds here - on the one hand life does by quickly. There are days I'd wish it would slow down. I'm nearing my thirties and I've yet to see my nephew. But, I find that the faster that life moves the more precious I've come to realize time is. I mean, let's face it. When I was a child time flew by as fast as it cared too and it didn't give a damn. Now, when I realize how much time has passed, it has motivated me to find the time to spend with family and friends. Things that didn't matter before matter now precisely because I realized how fast time is moving. I dunno. Overall, I enjoy the speed the life despite my many regrets about not spending more time with my family. But I'll find the time to spend with them, so it's probably a moot point anyway.

All I can say is DO hurry to find the time to be with your family or it might be too late. Not only old people die, young ones die too. So many here are having car accidents, kids around 16-20. Thats young to die. So try to make the time to see your nephew very soon. I know that I like it when it goes fast when Im working and I want it to slow down when Im on vacations or on the weekend haha....maybe we're never happy!! Thank you!!

Yes, the world is becoming faster and faster, everything is changing rapidly. But, why must we catch up with the world's step? How can you win the race with all the inventors in the world? We can't slow down the world, but we can slow down ourselves!

Yes I know we need to slow down ourselves, but thats not easy when you stop to smell the roses and your mind is still thinking about the 100 things that needs to be done. If someone has the secret on how to "stop the mind from thinking" that sure would help. Ive tried meditation but cant keep at it so I can master how to "silence the mind". I wont give up. Thanks for sharing!!

It's marketing strategy of manufacturers. They need to develop more features on a product every day, just to keep in business. And they could tag a much higher price when they have those additional features on their next products.

Oh I know that. They keep coming up with new things, better things, even the soap to wash your dishes is always made better and MORE expensive also. Its a never ending battle. Im busy trying to survive, not join the fashion trend.....I cant afford to haha! If we all stopped buying the new stuff, then maybe the companies would stop coming up with "new better" things? Thanks !!

I think with all the discovery of technology right now, all of the things may be go to fast. With the digital world right now every thing is possible.Maybe about the question of wish, Iwish all the things new may cost less.LOL! For all of us can buy it.

You're both right. Its great to have new technology, but if most cant afford it, then its no fun and we feel as if we're left out of the game. We need to tell the companies coming up with new things all the time to lower their prices!! Thank you both!

yes ,definitely time goes very fast.i think we only can do is cherish all the things you think improtant i think altough the technology is developing very fast , the items i now use are in good condtion and i am accoustomed with them ,i will don't have idea to change them , if you need some new functions ,maybe you can try to replace it we must comply to the nature rules, you enjoy what you have now is the most improtant things if time can slow down, only the thing to compansate is less time to accompany with family and loved ones

I didnt mean to say that Im wanting the latest technology. I too am happy with what I have now and as long as it'll run, I'll keep it all. I will get new things only when it breaks down. Fingers crossed it wont in a while because its too expensive. Yes the most important is to have time for friends and family, I agree with you on that one. Thank you for sharing!!

It would much more relaxing if life would just slow down. Or rather, it would be so great if we could just take a time off of this fast-paced life, enjoy the nice scenery for a while, and get back to the game after we've "freshened up". Because there are times that you need to cool down a bit, and there are times that you need the excitement of juggling a lot of things. :))

You're right, I do try to take some time to just sit and do nothing. Look out my window to admire my trees....but then my mind is going 100 miles an hour thinking about all that needs to be done. The secret would be to slow the mind I think! Thank you and I hope you do find the time to slow down!!

I want life to slow down just a little in general. I seem to have jumped from around thirty to fifty seven (tomorrow). The last fourteen or so years have really left me breathless. I do not care that much about technology or fashion, just people are getting old and dying on me. Of course it was a real shocker when it was some fairly young ones dying.

Imagine me singing now GG, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR GG, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOOOOOOO, YOUUUUUUUUU!!! Hope you'll do something special on this day. Oh I know about family and friends dying. It used to be aunts and uncles, then cousins, (too young), then this year Ive lost 3 friends !!!!! Its scary as you feel you've lost parts of yourself or that you'll end up being the only one left. Lets think of something happy as its your birthday today!!

It's called getting older! After you get over the hill you start to accelerate rapidly down the other side and that's why everything seems to be going past so fast I just relax and take things as they come. I used XP, ignored Vista (all reviews said that it was rubbish and I'd have had to get another computer to run it) Now I've got a new computer with W7 and think that it's brilliant. (Its really just Vista with the bugs taken out) Win8? Another buggy MS OS?? I think not. I'll stick with 7. Clothes fashions? I ignore them. I don't care what is "in" or "out" I'll buy what I like and what I find to be comfortable and practical. Likewise, I see no reason to rush out to buy a Blue-ray player which of course would mean that I'd have to replace all of my present DVD's with the Blue-ray equivelant - no thanks!

Strange that you say its called getting older. I felt the same in my 30's, I owned a restaurant at the time and I couldnt believe how fast time was flying, it was as if I couldnt do anything fast enough. Im still with XP, felt the same about Vista being crap. Im waiting to buy a new pc to get Win7.....or will it be 8 by that time? lol. As for fashion, I try to buy more of what I like but by the time I get a chance to go to the store, its not available anymore. So I stick to jeans and top now. Im also still with DVD player, not sure about blue ray, maybe I'll wait for the price of 3D to go down.....but Im sure by that time, they'll come up with something else.....geez!! My dad is 84 yrs old and he says he doesnt have the time to do all he wants in a day. He's still working and you'd never know he's that age......Sometimes I think he's in better shape than me haha! We should all take time to stop and slow down! Thanks for sharing!!

You can just bail on somethings, believe it or not the world doesn't come to an end Sure your kids think you are impaired, but then they are going to think that anyway. Many of your friends will remark, what have you done to yourself, you look so rested. A sense of calm invades your life and you will find yourself the proud owner of 8 hours sleep more often than not. Try it you might like it and you can always run and get back on the wheel.

I guess Im the lucky one to not have kids haha!! Yes I think you're right, I need to slow down and take some time for myself. I do look awful lately no matter how hard I try to smile. I do need 8 hrs sleep and I'll take your advice and have me a 8hrs night this weekend.......promise!! As soon as I wrote this, I thought of the washing that I usually do on the weekends and ......you're right, we have plenty towels or clothes to last over a month if not more, so the world wont come to an end. Thanks for the advice!!

Yes it moves so fast which is why we should embrace it. since i can't control or wish as much as i'd like for it to slow down, i'll embrace it, I love life and take it for all it is, its really something special and should be cherished. dont waste a moment thinking about what if it were slower take that moment to create a memory, all these things are going to count when you get older.
