When making them home made, how do you slice them?

How do you slice the potatoes for your french fries? Are they thick cut, or do you try to slice them to about the same size as many fast food chains. Do you use a special tool to get the potato just right or do you just cut and not worry about the size of the potato. What about the peel, peeled or unpeeled? Do you bread them? I just kind of try to keep them at one size, but what I do is just cut the first one and then use that first potato as an indicator of what size the other potatoes should be.

I've seen some nifty potato slicers before, and yes of course you can get one in the market but as you mentioned it's hardly worth getting one if you don't regularly fix french fries. I hardly fix them myself.

I always leave some peeling on them. I like them like steak fries put whatever seasoning we are in the mood for and then bake them to perfection on a oiled baking sheet in the oven. I do love potatoes. I always leave some peeling on them not matter how I fix them as the peeling has nutrients in them.

I love the peeling no matter which way the potato is fixed too. They peel is nutritious, and while some people might think it's bland, I think if you don't scrape the peeling from the potato all together, it's not all that bad at all. I love steak fries! They are delicious, and I love using the juices from the cooked steak to dip my fries in.

I do use a potato slicer to slice my potatoes, it make me gain extra time and do it more faster than with a knife. And generally I prefer to fry them unpeeled, but I wash if very well.

I don't make French fries. I do saute potatoes though, cut into thin, crisp like slices.

I have got the potato slicer that is available in the market to cut out french fries. But before that i would just just cut them long and thin and we that turned out well for me. I avoid thick slices as it consumes lot of oil and takes a lot of time to fry and sometimes turns out raw inside. My usual recipe is cornflour, with chilli, pepper and salt. Have never tried them breaded though

I thought there was a potato slicer available, and I believe I know what this instrument looks like but whether we have one here or in storage I am not sure. I don't make fries homemade that often myself because usually between my husband and I, I am the only one who eats them like this. "Breaded", I just meant what do you do to them (as in what you use there). Cornflour and chili hmm... That must make them a bit spicy but it sounds good.

there are kitchen tools that you can use to cut french fries equally, but I just don't care if the fries are not of the same sizes, I just love eating them, with gravy!
