EPL kicked off in grand style yesterday. Chelsea, Blackpool and Aston Villa were the big winners of the day. Blackpool probably was the upset of the day!! Not only did they win, but they won big 4-0 at Wigan!! I was also impressed by Tottenham's performance especially in the first half against Man City when they should have scored at least 4 goals, but finally ended up in a 0-0 draw!! What is your take on the results? Cheers! Ram

I have expected Chelsea to steamroll WBA. Aston Villa did very well after the shock departure of Martin O'Neill just a few days ago. Blackpool is definitely the shock of the day. Lets hope they can get enough points to survive the drop this season and not be like Hull City a couple of seasons ago where they did very well in the first half of the season only to lose steam and barely escape the drop.

Most championship sides do well in the first half of their premiership season. But then they start to struggle exactly like Hull as you pointed out. Let's see Blackpool for a few more matches before we can guess on how they will fare this season. Cheers! Ram

Chelsea were really professional in their 6-0 win. Didier Drogba scored the first hat trick of this season. Cheers! Ram

Are hat tricks common?

In fact hat tricks are very uncommon. Very few strikers score hat tricks. Cheers! Ram

Drogba's hat-rick for Chelsea in the opening match is very excellent.. Malouda and Lampard delivered well. It's a great team effort.. Blackpool's entry also did a same thing.. Now waiting for the rivals clash Arsenal vs Liverpool and also tomorrow's MUFC's match

Yes, Chelsea's performance was a warning to all the other teams that they mean business in this season. Not only are they winning, they are winning big these days. I am also looking forward to today's match and hope it would be a blockbuster. Cheers! Ram

Chelsea for sure threw down the gauntlet and let everyone know it will be pushing ahead and you either keep up or give up. They might not have spent a lot but like I always say, 11 stars don't make a team but this is a team for sure! Blackpool, I feel it might have just been a lucky game for them but then again 4-0 away is not so much luck, there has to be more to it. Great result for them and with such performances we can look forward to a close season in all areas. Aston Villa, well we know they are playing for the top 4 position and might have a great chance at it but only time will tell. Spurs, great team and unlucky to have not won but I hope they bounce back from this opener. Man City, they will learn the hard way that money does not buy success or results, it only buys famous players and heavy books. Now lets see what United have to offer and get a better idea of what to expect this season.

Yes, Spurs were up against an inspired Joe Hart. And now we see why Capello should have played him in the goal ahead of Robert Green!! Hart was really a closed door in front of he goal as far as the Spurs were concerned!! Cheers! Ram
