we always say, "That is so cool!" what is the meaning of being cool? How does anyone be regarded as COOL? If people exerted too much effort being cool then is he / she really being cool at all? there are so many culture differences we have. What is being cool for you? and how great it is being regarded as a cool person?

aaronfyzeon hi Cool to me has to do with temperatures not the latest or best thing going b ut to each his own. I do think its a tad outdated by now but again neat really does not cut it either. I just come out with the prosaic that's wonderful and eyebrows may raise as I am a senior citizen but me saying oh thats so cool or so neat, might bring the Valley girls out saying that disgusting oh gag me with a spoon.lol.I would rather be considered as a great person to be with as opposed to a cool person. She has class, now I like that as it tells us something but cool no thanks.,classy yes, cool no.

I don't know the exact meaning of "COOL" and I haven't used it too. In China, it seems that fashion, trendy things can be considered as cool. Or some boys whose appearance is distinctive and makes himself looks proud and confident are called "cool boy". Usually I only use this word to describe the temperature.

What is cool? My son was asked why he hasn't pierced his ear? Why he doesn't wear skinny pants? etc.. He said that boys weren't supposed to dress like that, I am so thankful that he did. So many teens get dragged into fads that will fade away. We go to a conservative church but many teens are following fads lastely: long hair, piercings, skinny pants, and don't get me wrong to each his own. I ask myself are they doing it because they really like it or to fit in with the one who started the fad? I have one child who sways to influences but still I tell him not in this household. Cool is being yourself and loving it.

If you think about all the people who you think of as cool, you'll find that they have several characteristics in common: they're all confident, unique, andon friendly terms with everyone. There's no reason you can't be like that yourself. Cool is being cool if don't care so much about what others think of you. We will always, on some level, be concerned with others' opinions of ourselves, but realize that ultimately, you will never be able to please everyone. Try hard, but don't be so concerned with judging yourself or being judged by others. People have millions of ways to get under your skin. Learn to spot them and become immune. Be happy with yourself and do what you enjoy. Take a deep breath. Being cool is all about being relaxed and comfortable in any circumstance. Don't lose your cool. If you feel yourself about to lose your temper, or burst into tears, or lose control in any way, take a deep breath and excuse yourself. Stay calm. Don't be disruptive, annoying, or have unpredictable mood changes. You are serene and steadfast in your coolness and it should show. That means not getting too caught up in anything, not even your cool self. Have a cool day my friend :)

I don't actually say that something is cool. I'm more of an awesome kind of person. :P Regardless, I think "cool" can be defined as what is viewed as accepted, or even admired, by society. In that way, what is "cool" varries from place to place, culture to culture, between age brackets, etc. In my opinion, being cool, and people who work so hard to be "cool", are very overrated. It's better to be yourself and not worry about what may or may not be cool. Because what's cool changes relatively quickly, but who you are as a person is something special that shouldn't be discarded every few years.

The meaning of "cool" surely changes al the time. The word itself will change. In my country we used a slang word meaning "good". Now the kids use a word which means "strong, robust" and that is strange to me. But the point is to be liked by the others. And many people need this.
