I smell the scent of some herbal soup on my way down the stairs, someone must be cooking for their family, haven't had one for months. I plan to have one soon as I saw one restaurant ad offering it for 2.5 dollars. I am referring to the Chinese herbal soup. I wonder if there are any other herbal soup in other cultures? Anyone tasted any of the American Indian herbal soups? What ingredients do they put into it?

I think soup is an integral part of the food habit of people all over the world. however, different people eat it differently … like the western people mainly eat soup with bread, some eat it just like that, the oriental put noodles and other things into their soup and so on. My country India too has a rich variety of soups though I must say that we don’t really consider a soup as a meal in itself, even if its accompanied by local breads. Indian soups are called shorbas and they can be both veg and non-veg. as for my local food preferences, a light soup made of pulses and flavoured with coriander leaves and drops of lemon juice is perfect to revive the spirits.
