We do a lot of yard work and does it take it out of you especially when it is scorching hot. Well last week it was so hot we had to do all the yard work we do early in the morning so we didn't burn up in the heat. It said it was in the upper 90's but the heat index was like 105. By noon each day was was done for. Well we really paid for rushing out the door and doing all the work fast so we could get out of the heat. I woke up with cramps running up and down the inside of my leg and my husband had cramps all night. There is a cure for this potassium electrolyte and magnesium . But how much do you take and what product you take is all up to your body. We started out on the magnesium and then went to electrolyte finally the the potassium is what really worked. We would wake up with cramps so bad we didn't want to move. But the work had to be done. Oh well my question to you is do you ever wake up with cramps? What works for you to stop the cramps?

i guess i have! and it is really painful that makes me wanna cry, though it happened twice if i can remember.i really don't like the feeling of having it.if i do have it,i just can't simply move my legs but i can feel it more if i control it.really achy and hard to handle.it makes me wanna cry.but then i can feel that the pain lessens and that's the time i will start to hold on my legs and siply massage it to let it soften for a while until the pain reduces and fade away.i can say it is really hard to wake up with that!

Hi Annavi. I know it is something that I can do without. I hate it when I get cramps like this. Thank God it only happens once in a while. I couldn't move all I could do is stand there and let the cramp ease at its own time. When I tried to move I just couldn't stand the pain.

yeah,me too,i have those moments of cramping where i can't even move a muscle, really painful.i just let it stop by itself, and if i feel it has stopped that's the time i would massage my legs to make it feel better.i know,it's really hard to have cramps,i hope i would never experience that again.

Hi TrvlArrngr. We do three yards a week and that is hard work to do but it is good exercise. No it isn't pleasant to get the cramps. I was in tears, my husband ran to fix me something to get rid of the cramps. I can't blame you for being tired and cranky the next day. Hope you are feeling better now.

I never woke up with cramps. Cramps can be caused by many things like dehydration, lactic build up from strenuous work like what you guys are doing. Well, just drink some gatorade because they have electrolytes and also drink lots of water while working. I play basketball and during off season we run a lot so we constantly need to rehydrate to replace our water and electrolytes that are lost through sweating. We drink gatorade or powerade, or something like those. When you have cramps from lactic acid build up you need to drink lots of water too because it helps the circulation of fluids in your body and eventually relieve the areas with lactic acid build up.

Hi Gorillafootprints. Who do you play basketball for? We drink water all day. I keep a small cooler on the back of the truck with water and lemon juice in it. I am one of the lucky ones I never have liked anything to drink but water when I am in the hot sun. Thanks for the advice. My husband likes gatorade but I don't. His brother bought us over some electrolyte tablets from his job they give them out to their employees because they have to work in hot buildings. I didn't know it was because lactic acid build up. Thanks for the advice.
