Netbooks, the best and fastest machines on the planet!

As you may have noticed I used this overly sarcastic heading to entice people to read my discussion! Ok, netbooks are not the best or the fastest machines built for raw computing power. You can't play games on the majority of netbooks out there. But then again netbook owners don't remember what its original purpose is. SURFING THE WEB, SENDING EMAILS, LIGHT VIDEO WATCHING AND MUSIC STREAMING. I think netbooks get a somewhat bad reputation because people expect too much from their little friend. I have a netbook and I have to say it is perfect for me. I am a student, my bad weights about 5 kgs, that is with the netbook :) It is so small I can literally bring it with no hassle. It was inexpensive (though i didnt buy it) and best of all it does the job! I do wish I could play games on my netbook, but I guess that would be asking for too much from my little HP mini. Overall I do love my netbook and the ability to lug it into class with no fuss or hassle at all! What do you guys think?

I have an acer netbook. truly its 1.6ghz processor is not well equipped to do hardcore games, but it does lets you surf anywhere with that lightweight package. Surfing is no problem as well as movie streaming, i have upgraded to 2gb RAM and it just got awesome.

Ithink it would be a nightmare to play on a 1.6 ghz netbook but as you said it is lightweight and you can surf from anywhere there is wifi or 3g Thanks for your reply

you can play games with a netbook, just upgrade RAM and keep file and registry in tip top shapes.

You can play very old-school games with a netbook, like DooM and others. Overall, I'd recommend one for everyday use, but not for newer applications and games.

I agree but note not everyone wants to play DooM or pacman :) Though the newer netbooks are allowing gaming. Netbooks equipped with th Nvidia Ion cards I hear play games such as COD in 30 fps

I have had alot of computers in the last couple of years, and i think that the best choice is the netbook, it does what i need to for school, but i do have another computer for all of the other things that i do like web design, so i think that the netbooks are pretty good...

Netbooks are ideal for people on the go or students who have the need to have portability in the form of a ten inch netbook! Though netbooks will never replace desktops or laptops. Thanks!

If you don't need it for high intense work like photoshop or gaming I would say go for it mate! I am more than satisfied with my netbook. Lets say it is easy to reply to mylot posts with a small little machine of awesomeness :) though you need to carefully ases (can't spell it because of the filter) which netbook is for you. Have a good day and thanks for your opinions
