Youtube channels?

SO I was on a website that said how much youtube partners were making each month! I was shocked. The secret was the subscribers so I was wondering how many people actually go to youtube to watch for like one individual person's new video? I never subscribe to a channel ? So, I f you subscribe to a youtube channel what is it and why do you watch it?

I subscribe to channels that I like, with reviews or interesting things I enjoy. I subscribe to a few indie bands and some anime voice actors and stuff.

I subscribe to a few people. Mostly either musicians who I like to hear their new stuff or the comedy type videos like livelavalive. They're what I look for on youtube so subscribing to an individual who posts that type of stuff that I enjoy just makes it easier for me since they're on my dashboard whenever i go onto youtube to see new videos posted. It's convenience really.
