THE worst hostage "EPIC FAIL" situation of this YEAR!

this is why i hate BAD NEWS. i think this is the worst for now. A cop took hostage on a tour bus with 15 taiwanese and others. the reason why because he wants his job back. he was an honorable police officer and had medals and praised honorable mention commending his service of 20 years. all that changed because of a big mistake, he got busted for drug trafficking along with four officers. he took hostage of a bus. his brother who's also a cop tries to help but he got arrested too, despite of his brothers resisting arrest he got into the police cab. cops believed he too is involved. his relatives didn't want this other cop arrested. And then, after the hostage taker found out about his brother's arrest, he went rouge and killed all the hostages. except for the driver that got away while the hostage taker kills the tourist, all 15 of them. and only that time, the cops went in, thinking he killed himself along with the hostages. but he didn't fired back. THIS IS YET another failed operation to save lives. clearly the cops lacked training. why? because it happened a few years ago, but this time, it was a ex-cop that did it. another embarrassment to our international community.

he still firing shots so that means he is still alive. but the hostages we don;t know what happened to them as of yet. This will be a big blow to our tourism biz. I know after this I too would be very wary travelling to a country where there is hostage taking going on!

This is going to be a turn off to the international community. PNP provoked the hostage taker. It triggered the violence that ended a sad story. I also would like to comment on how the PNP attacked the BUS - theyre so lousy.

Hello danzylop, Yes, most likely it's another embarassment because some one already tried this a few years back. i think they were so scared and didn't know exactly on how to assault the vehicle like that. most specially since the last time, the negotiations went alright. this is so sad indeed.

We were all held hostage last night by these news flash. Almost all of the TV were focused on this hostage taking and everybody I supposed were glued to their TV to watch this event go all throughout the night. I am saddened by the outcome but I think the involvement of the brother who was also a policeman triggered everything off in the negotiation. They should have measured the emotional stability of this policeman before involving him in the negotiations in here. He somehow stirred the negotiation to fail and make everything worst for everybody. If I we're to point who is to blame, I would point to the brother who has somehow was overshadowed by his brotherly concern over his job as a policeman. Though I seem to believe that there is a lack of skills when dealing with this kind of situations. We are used to the usual hostage happening here and there but I guess we were shocked that it was a policeman that made the hostage taking this time, making it more difficult being him as high ranking and medal police officer. We can expect difficulty then since he practically knows how his fellow comrades would react on this matter.

Hello RSA, Nah, for me it was the cops also. they should have talk to him and not force him into the car, that drove his brother mad. they failed on crowd control and then allowing the media to take a close look on the scene. they lack skills alright and focus much on eating, doing other things opposite of following of the law. am sure they are being scolded for such failure.

Of obvious there was so big mistake, there were talking for 10 hours and the dude was exposed to be shot at by sniper and even the negiotators 2 of them can grab him while he was outside..He was not carrying any bom and does not have a partner in crime. Atleast 2 instance the bad dude can be grabbed or shot by sniper. This is blocted up rescue and attack. Just because he is wearing their detective uniform, they did not act up. They should see how CHina police negiotate with hostake taker.HEad shot at close range.

Hello kukueye, there were not so sure about it and that's why they didn't storm in. or at least they didn't know how. i believe this wasn't like that in the Philippines before. i guess it's part of that deterioration that's been happening to the country. i know they were some best, but i guess it's not that good anymore.

I don't think they lack training. They're protecting something. That is why they took the brother of the hostage taker ex-cop, thinking the ex-cop would submit to them. It's like a hostage for a hostage. The ex-cop is not stupid to surrender he knows the dirty trick of his colleagues. That gives no other choice for him to do what he did. The police and the swat team involved here were all pathetic puppets of a corrupt government.

This is really a sad incident that has taken away the lives of many foreign tourists that has spend a lot of money to visit the country only to end their lives in a most tragic way which could have been avoided if the local security was quick to act. Why didn't the police shoot the hostage taker before he killed the tourists? Why wait at the eleventh hour when it was already too late. This killing will go down in the history of tourism in your country and it will take a long time to regain the trust of international visitors to your country.

Hello zandhi, the negotiations were going too well. and during the afternoon, people are being released. in my view, they should have sniper shot the guy when he opened the bus doors during the afternoon. but i thought it's gonna go well. trouble is that when his family got arrested, things went bad from there.yes, it will take time.

LetranKnight25, Just to correct some facts, the hostages are mainly from Hong Kong with 2 from U.K.. I am sorry that this siege had ended tragically and I have to say that it is just sad to see people dying unnecessarily. I felt that there is no ground for negotiations especially when the outcome is one where your government will be unable to fulfill the hijacker's demands. I am just shocked that the authorities cannot see this and the need to storm the coach bus eventually. I am also puzzled why the military commandos was not recommended when it is so much more appropriate than the police, especially when the hijacker is the police's one of their former own. I just felt that the authorities could have been more objective and decisive in this hostage situation. Sadly, it was not and what a heavy price to pay.

hello Letran, There are still survivors good to know about it. But what the he_l with those bystanders cramming around the crime scene and not giving way to the medics. Let's just wait till the investigation will start what really makes this cop go nuts to do this thing.(not even thinking his family and kids .

Hello Jaiho, Yean i found about it later after i made this discussion. this will be probed by the cops who are in the higher authority.this investigation will more and more time since our justice is really slow for that matter.i think they need serious retraining on this matter.

This is a major blow in the Philippines. It's too disappointing to see how everything fails...the family of the hostage taker were blamed for the delay ..why pass the blame unto others?

Epic fail it is. it was so humiliating watching live on television that is seen worldwide. Filipinos abroad are putting their heads down on shame. It should have been prevented if the authorities think before they acted. It was clear and the only way that the brother of the hostage taker will probably end the crisis. Think about it? The authorities only prompted the hostage taker to act the worst after knowing that the hostage taker's brother was arrested. what do you think? they could arrest him after the crisis. Think about it. Hopefully this kind of crisis wouldn't happen again.
