Darn It, I Think I'm Getting My First Cold Of The Year!

It started with my ears kinda popping when I swallow. Then I thought, "why do I suddenly feel like sh*te?" Out came the cardigan that I've not worn for ages. I realise now that it looks like I've got a cold coming on as I sneezed earlier and my nose feels - well, not right. Dammit! I was hoping to go the whole year without a cold. I wouldn't mind but I don't go out much. I blame the footy supporters on Saturday, gotta be one of those that's responsible! How have you been with colds this year? Have they stayed away or is it one cold after another (hope it's not the latter)

A cold? What is that? Just kidding! Just wanted to rub it in that I do not suffer from colds at all anymore! Sorry! I guess it is hard not to get colds when you are living in a cool climate. I used to get colds regularly when I lived down south in Melbourne, but they slowed down to just a minor one each year once we moved to the warmer climate in Queensland. I have not had a sore throat, runny or blocked nose for about 4 years though since I changed my lifestyle by working from home and eating healthier. Having a strong immune system is the key I believe. Even my kids do not get sick as much as they used to and they are still exposed to all the germs at school. I hope that you feel better soon. Sending you some sunshine to warm you up!

Grrrr! LOL. The sun has made an appearance today (well, sort of) but it's cooler. Not exactly Oz weather but that's my fault for living here and not there. Haha!

well, about the only place we run into a lot of people is the store, and we don't have close contact then, I've managed to dodge a cold since the winter of 08/09. since the roomie works from home and I only go to my client's and my mom's - neither one of them need a cold either - I've been very fortunate to not have one - if I do get sick, I need to consider not going to either work or my mom's I skipped my mom's one day because I had a headache, but the only time I've missed work since returning after my gall bladder surgery in Sept of 08 was when my car broke down...

That's interesting because the only reason I got this cold was being in contact with a load of people at the football match least week (the first one I'd been to since last season) so I don't know who I caught it from but once you're outside with lots of people it could be anybody. Feeling OK now..I suppose lol.

A couple of Christmases ago I had something similar to what you describe but without the blisters (and I'm sorry you had to go through that, must've been awful for you) and it was the worsed cold/flu I had ever had. The pain in my head and throat was terrible and, like your illness, took an age to get over..and my hearing is worse as a consequence. I never, ever want to catch anything like that again.

Hi, Janey1966. I have not had any colds this year like I did last year. But I will not speak to soon. I had a cold last year in September and October. I was sick then. I was not so happy either. I had the Flu in October and December. This year, the colds did not affect me as it used to. When the seasons change every year, I always have a cold. It is not very fun to have a cold. I hope that you will feel better very soon too.

Thanks cream97! This cold of mine doesn't want to come out properly. Do you know what I mean? My throat hurts and I've sneezed a few times but my head is still woozy, and it's been like this all week! I hope you don't get any colds this year. I know what you mean about the change of seasons which is probably why I've got one now. Thanks for your concern, it's much appreciated.

Hello Professor! Sorry to hear you have a cold. I don't like this time of year in our country because it's coming up to Autumn..one day it can be quite cool and damp, the next sunny and warm. Figuring out what to wear is a nightmare. I'm sure you'll be spared the swine flu, it turns out it wasn't as bad over here as the so-called "experts" had predicted. I remain confident that you will be OK.

Could it be allergies? I get more problems with those than with actual colds. I know, all those people who blocked you way with the umbrella also breathed on you so you would get their germs and nasty colds.

I don't think it's allergies..definitely a cold I reckon. On Saturday I was in a fairly large crowd of people (first time in a while) for the footy game so I'm bound to have caught something off one of them.

I'm feeling woozy but the sore throat hasn't materialised yet. So tired though and my head feels a bit er, sensitive. Back to the docs tomorrow as I'm after some more iron tablets. Bet he says "gotta have a blood test first" and I'm already having one of those at the hospital next week. I don't want two, in fact I don't really want one!
