I am not able to understand as to why you are not interested in swimming. It is very useful for one to learn swimming - as it is a self protection art and also helps for a good exercise of the body. Any how there is no force - but an individuals choice.

Agree and an agreement for 100% on your stats about the advantages of swimming. I'd learned how to swim during my childhood time at the age of 9 year-old in the streaming river which is located nearby my house, just a yell-distant.

I appreciate your interest in learning swimming at the age of nine. That is really encouraging. Parents should take interest in teaching swimming to their children as I feel it is a must for them to learn this art because in life sometime it will be of great use. It is little difficult to learn swimming in a streaming water - but that counts your daring attitude to learn. I spent hours-learning in a well with stagnant water nearer to my house. We were 6 friends and all started the same day to learn.

I was able to get free swimming lessons because of my uncle. He paid for my lessons as a prize because I graduated with honors during my elementary years. I like swimming very much. Especially upon learning that I have scoliosis- my spinal bone is curved. The doctor advised me to swimming regularly to strengthen my bones. But now, I've stopped because I'm just to shy to swim in public pools, especially those that require you to wear bathing suits. :(

You are so lucky because of your uncle encouraged for your swimming lessons. Those were the beautiful reward we received from relatives and friends .These days we cannot expect those nice rewards. That is the real encouragement necessary for one's improvement in life. I m really happy to note that. Yes these days life has become a pomp and show business and most of the like only if you are dressed well. Those days only one cut - drawer served the purpose of swimming......
